Five Dark Fates by Kendare Blake

Five Dark Fates by Kendare Blake is Your Next Fall Must Read

in Book Reviews on 09/05/19 by Brooke Leave a Comment

The best part of fall is all the new books coming out and Kendare Blake’s final chapter Five Dark Fates in The Three Dark Crowns series is a must. Obviously, we adore Kendare Blake here at That’s Normal but it’s for good reason. She crafts dark witchy tales with jaw-dropping twists. If you have been reading the series, get thee to a bookstore. If you haven’t, you need to start now. Five Dark Fates is the perfect fall read.

Five Dark Fates is the fourth book in the Three Dark Crowns series and it’s definitely the final chapter. There are fated sisters, intrigue, twists, dead queens, murdering mist, and loyal guys. And Kendare kills off characters with a ruthless vengeance much like the Blue Queen. If you like darker YA fantasy, then this is your next series.

More About Five Dark Fates

The fourth and final book in the New York Times bestselling Three Dark Crowns series, Five Dark Fates, has all-out war brewing — one that will pit sister against sister, dead against the undead, and the betrayed against their betrayers.

After the grim confrontation with Queen Katharine, the rebellion lies in tatters. Jules’s legion curse has been unbound, and it is up to Arsinoe to find a cure, even as the responsibility of stopping the ravaging mist lies heavy on her shoulders, and her shoulders alone. Mirabella has disappeared.

Katharine’s reign remains intact — for now.

When Mirabella arrives, seemingly under a banner of truce, Katharine begins to yearn for the closeness that Mirabella and Arsinoe share. But as the two circle each other, the dead queens hiss caution: Mirabella is not to be trusted. Three sisters will rise to fight as the secrets of Fennbirn’s history are laid bare. Allegiances will shift. Bonds will be tested. But the fate of the island lies in the
hands of its queens. It always has.

Why I’m Still Geeking Out Over Five Dark Fates

I’m rooting for all the sisters. Even crazy Katherine is amazing in this book. Of course, Mirabella is still trying to unite them together. And Arsinoe has grown into a champion, loyal to the end.

It is an all-out war. Jules vs Katherine is a formidable matchup. Dead queens vs a legion curse. It’s crazy. And the sisters, Billy, Pietyr, Luca, Emilia and Rho all have an integral part to play. I don’t want to give anything away but I will say, you won’t be able to predict this.

The twists and turns in this book are jaw dropping. It wouldn’t be a book by Kendare Blake if it didn’t. Five Dark Fates is no exception. You think the book is going a certain direction and then she flips you upside down and chucks you off a cliff. And I love her for it.

The Three Dark Crowns series has been one of my favorite series. Each book just got better and more complicated. Five Dark Fates is no exception and it is a fantastic last book. I savored every moment with the sisters and how it ended, well let’s just say, I’m still shook. This series is fall read perfection.

Obviously, I would recommend this to anyone who breathes. But guys probably won’t enjoy this story as much as I and my teen daughters do. If you have a friend who loves Halloween or anything witchy, this series is a great gift for the season. Light a candle, cozy up in a fuzzy blanket and get ready to be floored.
