Immortals After Dark…but mostly LOTHAIRE
Our love for this smutastic series knows no bounds. Kresley Cole crafted an addicting, vivid world where immortals exist (secretly..ish) beside humans and factions are warring for supremacy. All these mythical creatures (vamps, demons, witches, valkyries, and so on..) are running around finding their mates and fighting their enemies (who oftentimes are their mates). The world building is complex and fascinating, the romances tortured and compelling and HOT. The series is far from over, but with 18 books and novellas thus far, there is a lot of ground to cover. The Fated Mates podcast has 27 episodes so far; they’re up to book 13 (Macrieve) but they also mix it up by doing “interstitial” episodes (more on that next). You can start from the beginning or jump right to your favorites (hello, Demon from the Dark). But definitely listen to the one about Lothaire, because…it’s Lothaire.
There’s Outlander, there’s Nora Roberts, and in paranormal, there’s Lothaire[…] It is probably one of the most influential, powerful examples of villain turned hero-Sarah
And there’s, you know, *that* infamous sex scene. Plus *that* scene between Lothaire and Nix. And how he’s the literal worst but we luuuurve him anyways.

There’s also fun running gags, like the Lost Limb Count, which includes “Beheading as a Romantic Gesture”, distinctly different from “Beheading as a Non-Romantic Gesture”. Because this is Kresley Cole, and if your mate doesn’t tear his own leg off to be with you, does he even really love you?? And if you can’t forgive him for having you vivisected, YOU DON’T DESERVE HIM.
Interstitials aka Discussing Your Favorite Romance Tropes
Haven’t read the IAD series? No problem! Any episode that ends in “.5” is about general romance themes and tropes, discussed by the pros who know them best. Sports romance, enemies to lovers, curvy heroines, Scottish highlanders, fake engagements…they pretty much cover all of your favorites. If you love romance, then you will love hearing Sarah and Jen geek out with their thought-provoking, educational, FUN discussions. They also liberally dole out book recommendations, so expect your TBR to get a lot longer. Special guests like authors Joanna Shupe, Sierra Simone, and Adriana Herrera also drop in. Just make sure you put your headphones in, because this shizz is NSFW.
