Marvel Stud10s: Has It Really Been 10 Years?

in Marvel on 02/13/18 by Lorena Leave a Comment

Just in time for Tom Hiddleston‘s 37th birthday, Marvel Studios decided to launch a fun 10 years anniversary contest to let fans celebrate the MCU their favorite way: by posting photos of themselves on the internet! Back in October they did a giant class photo of cast and filmmakers from all the movies going back a decade. Check out the fun video (which ironically does not include Tom Hiddleston; hopefully this is not indicative of Loki dying in Infinity War!).

“So what’s this contest?” You Ask

Well, the Marvel 10-Year Sweepstakes will take place across social media and last for five weeks, from February 8 to March 15. Each week of the sweepstakes features a different Marvel Cinematic Universe film. Fans can post a photo of themselves on Twitter or Instagram and/or tweet their favorite personal memory from the film of the week using the film hashtag and #Marvel10YearSweepstakes to be entered for a chance to win.

Each week, a drawing will take place and a winner will be selected. The weekly winner will receive the Ultimate Marvel Fan prize package, including Marvel Studios’ Captain Marvel set visit; Marvel Studios visit and tour; tickets to Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Infinity War premiere; all transportation and lodging; and more. Full prize details, information on how to enter and official sweepstakes rules can be found at: www.marvel.com/10YearSweepstakes

Honestly, I think the set visit to meet Brie Larson would be my favorite prize. Captain Marvel is supposed to be set in the 90s and it has the potential to really change the MCU if they do the Kree-Skrull war plotline. So, it’d be fun to see it in action and get a glimpse at how different Phase 4 will be!

What The Class Photo Really Tells Us

Marvel Studios’ unprecedented success over the last ten years is reflected in its cumulative box-office receipts of over $13.5 billion worldwide. That’s a crap ton of money! So naturally my first question is: what’s the gender breakout of who is working on these films? Lucky for me, Marvel listed all the people who participated in the class photo. Lucky for you, I made pie charts!

What Has Changed In 10 Years?

I am finding it a little mind-blowing that it’s actually been a decade since Iron Man flew into theaters and such. I remember that movie being a game changer for the superhero genre, but it was not until I saw Thor without knowing it was Marvel film that I really engaged with what has become the MCU.

Yes, that fateful day in 2011 at the dollar theater with a couple of Oregon IPAs… that is when I discovered Tom Hiddleston and my life changed forever. So, I wanted to see how much sweet Thomas William has changed!
