Hi there! Welcome back to another round of TN Beauty! Where we try beauty products and share our favorites with you! We save you moola and find all the winners in makeup, skincare, and hair products.

Garnier Micellar Water

beauty product reviews, garnier micellular waterBrand: Garnier

Color/Scent: NA

Reviewed by: Emily L

Rating: 5 out of 5 lazy face washers

Recommended for: Anyone who doesn’t want to both take off their makeup and wash their face at night (or any other time)

I love makeup, fun masks, and all things beauty, but I am also the laziest person I know. Which is why I LOVE micellar water. It’s awesome as a makeup remover or a mini cleanser. It doesn’t make your skin greasy, but it also doesn’t dry it out. Plus, it’s super cheap and a bottle lasts forever. It won’t replace your normal face wash, but it makes you feel better on those nights where getting up to wash your face just ain’t happening. Buy it!

Kat von D Tattoo Liner

Kat von D tattoo liner, trooper, eye liner, beauty product reviewsBrand: Kat von D

Color/Scent: Trooper

Reviewed by: Nikki

Rating: 5 outta 5 hella fierce cat eyes

Recommended for: If your eyeliner game could cut a bitch or if your eyeliner game needs serious help, this liquid liner is for you.

If I could give Kat von D’s Tattoo Liner a higher rating I would, it’s THAT good. As it stands, Kat von D’s Tattoo Liner is a 10/10 would buy again all day every day. Santa put this little beauty in my stocking this year and clearly, Santa has been watching the YouTube makeup tutorials and visiting Angel at the North Pole Sephora for tips, because this eye liner is so good, so smooth and so black. I am an eyeliner aficionado, I’ve worn it forever from pencils to my favorite: liquid and gel. I’ve been using MAC’s Fluidline for ages and love it for the dark color but it’s in a pot and that means most newbs might be intimidated by having to use an angle brush to apply it. Enter Kat von D. This eyeliner is a cross between a felt tipped pen and a Paint Pen, if they wouldn’t blind you and were made for applying to your eyes. I’m loving the ease of the application and how precise I can get the tips of the cat eye all the way down to the inner water line, if I choose. I can’t sing this liner’s praises enough, RUN and get yourself one. Buy it!

Heel Genius

Heel Genius, beauty product reviewsBrand: Soap & Glory

Color/Scent: NA

Reviewed by: Amy

Rating: 5 out of 5 baby feet

Recommended for: Anyone with feet.

My heels and the pads of my toes can get super scaly and dry, especially in winter. I have tried just about every foot cream on the market at every price point, from Dr. Scholls to L’Occitane. And they are all fine. Heel Genius is more than fine. It’s fantastic. After every shower, I use a pumice on my heels, pads, and toes. Then I slather on the foot cream. After a week of Heel Genius, I noticed that my feet were super soft. Like post-pedicure, baby soft. Callouses are gone and I can’t stop rubbing my feet together once I get under the covers at night. The AHAs don’t irritate my sensitive skin. Buy it!

Korean Skincare Made Simple

beauty product reviews, julep, korean skincare made simpleBrand: Julep

Color/Scent: NA

Rating: 5 out of 5 naked faces

Recommended for: Anyone who wants a lightweight hydration system that doesn’t overwhelm them.

I found this when my favorite mosturizer got discontinued (RIP H2O Foaming Moisturizer) and I went into Ulta begging for help. Here’s a tip: Go in mid afternoon on a Friday; the makeup girls are standing around waiting for the Friday rush. I asked for something light-I don’t have oily skin, but I hate feeling my moisturizer–and she asked if I’d heard of Julep and then proceeded to convinced me to get the 3-step gift set ($49 for basically $112 worth of product? How can you go wrong?!), which I expected to be a waste of money because I am the worst about washing off my makeup (I KNOW!) and because we all know how much money we waste on finding our new go-to after discontinuation.

.
Once I got into the routine, the 3-steps are actually really simple. You have an oil cleanser that you put on your DRY face. This seriously gets off every trace of makeup, even waterproof, and is amazing, even if you do look like an 1800s chimney sweep by the end. Next, you use this Konjac sponge to wipe off the oil while exfoliating (it is super gentle). Then, there is a (clear!!) night cream that they suggest using 2-3 times a week, but you can use daily when things get really rough. I use it Sunday and Wednesday night (choosing a specific night helps you remember!), but will probably add a night because winter. And then there is the “What Your Skin Needs Restorative Facial Milk” that you put on in the morning and is so light that it has an eyedropper.

.
I now have damn near perfect skin (they can’t help PMS) and even my eyelashes are fuller because I am getting all of the mascara off without struggling. I go out of the house with no makeup on at all because my super fair skin is so even. And I need you all need to buy it so that it doesn’t disappear on me. “How long could a starter box even last?” you ask. I started using it July 9th (I am a nerd and track that kind of crap in my google calendar…), I have used it daily since then, and am just now reordering it because I have a coupon, but could still easily get a few more weeks out of it. It’s so worth it. Buy it!

Revlon Matte Balm

beauty product reviews, revlon matte balm, reviewBrand: Revlon

Color/Scent: Fiery

Reviewed by: Nikki

Rating: 2 out of 5 beginners lipstick kisses

Recommended for: For someone who wants the look but likes a softer texture and less staying power than a traditional lipstick.

I told you in our last review, I love a good drugstore find but this sadly, didn’t make my list. This lip product right here is what we call ‘mislabeling.’ When you say ‘balm,’ I expect a nourishing balm-y textured product with the added bonus of color. That is not what this Matte Balm stick is. Even the shape is misleading, you think you’re going to get something like a Clinique Chubby Stick with a bit of a stain, but the Matte Balm isn’t really something you can wear without commitment or a liner pencil. The pros: this product goes on super smooth (this is the ‘balm’ portion), the color is MUCH more vivid than I thought it would be and while it stays on, it defs needs to be reapplied and mostly needs support under and with a liner pencil to stay put. This is for women who don’t like the feel of traditional lipstick but want COLOR, and have the time to reapply. Buy it!
