Everyone seems to go rogue and stepped outside of protocol.
That is a perfect summary, courtesy of Gaius Charles, who plays John. I spoke to him the morning following the finale of Taken. Bryan, as expected goes off on his own to save Asha. John and the rest of the ODNI field team go against Christina’s orders by joining Bryan in his quest. Even Christina defied an order by The White House to reel Bryan in (although whether this order actually came from the President is debatable since it was that smarmy FBI agent who relayed the message.) Even sinister Meija shoots his right hand man dead when he suspects him of betrayal.
The finale gave viewers little chance to catch their breath but here are a few of the best moments.
When our song comes on the radio, we are all this woman.
Who knew that country music would be Bryan Mills’ action hero theme song? “Someone took my girlfriend,” he says. The country song pretty much writes itself.
Also, can we get this lady and Bryan a buddy road trip crime fighting series? That’s a spin off I would tune in to.
It was only a matter of time before The Phone Call and That Line from The Movie made its way into the series. And it was delivered with all the intensity you could hope for.
Not even being struck down in the middle of the street will keep Bryan Mills down. Side note – Clive Standen did this stunt himself and was hit by that car 4 times. While it was going 40 km/h. That’s some crazy dedication to his craft. He is a beast.
Meija’s got the bad guy IgivezeroF*cks swagger down pat. I love me some good bad guy cockiness. He got what he had coming to him but I can’t help but be sad that there is no chance for him to return.
Not poor Asha! Meija with the knife to her neck. Bryan not being able to get a shot away. The savage cut of the throat. I literally screamed “NOOOOOO” at my television.
Even with all his influence, Meija couldn’t buy his way out of getting a bullet between the eyes. Bryan was all out of f*cks and wasn’t going to let him weasel his way out of custody this time. A bullet between the eyes took care of it.
But in the process, Bryan disobeyed Christina, brought a down hail of bullets from the Mexican army and he ended up broken and bloody in some no name Mexican prison.
And so ends season one!
How will Bryan get out of prison? The ODNI is not sure if he is still alive. Will they try to find him? Asha survived but is in hospital with John at her side. Will she forgive Bryan? What about Christina’s brain tumour? And WILL RILEY AND FARRON GET OUT OF THE OFFICE MORE IN SEASON 2?
There is no word Season 2 as of yet but an official announcement should be made in the coming weeks.
