Grace VanderWaal is a darling 12-year old who sang an original song and played the ukulele.
#GoldenBuzzer
Her spunky attitude and great lyrics like
I’m lost trying to get found in an ocean of people
This 12-year-old speaks to me!
Howie used the Golden Buzzer and put her through to the finals.
I don’t watch the show and you never know what you’re going to get when they walk on stage. Some can be whacky acts with dogs, some have puppets, but some can blow you away.
HipHop violin
Grace isn’t the first person to play the ukulele, nor is she the first darling girl with strings. Lindsey Stirling also auditioned for Season 5 of the US show in 2010 playing hiphop violin. She made the quarterfinals and didn’t win but she has amassed over 8 million followers on youtube.
Britain’s Got Talent
The US show spun off from Britain’s Got talent and there is even an Australia’s Got Talent.
I’ll be honest I know more about the Britain winners than I do the American winners like season 1 Paul Potts who stunned the judges when he said he wanted to sing Opera. His choice? Nessun Dorma, and it had people in tears.
And we all know about runner up from season 3 Susan Boyle who knocked Simon’s socks off with “I Dreamed a Dream” from Les Misérables:
2015 Winner Collabro is a musical theater boy band, who when they auditioned had been together only a month. The skepticism was high but then, they went to Les Miserables as well and sang the Javert song “Stars”:
But back to the US, Season 1 an 11 year old singer Bianca Ryan won so could Grace VanderWall take home the top prize?
Simon sure thinks so. I might just have to watch!
