TV shows come and go on hiatus, films premiere and leave the theater but one thing remains the same: MUSIC! It’s high time we started talking about who makes us move and who makes us turn the channel. Mostly I just want to talk about Justin Timberlake and Ben Gibbard.
Postal Service
When Postal Service updated their website with this graphic and the words “Postal Service 2013” Monday morning every girl and boy who wore black T-shirts in college, wide horn rimmed glasses and thought no one understood them rejoiced. On their now defunct LiveJournal. We… I mean THEY… ok, we tweeted and blogged and updated with their hopes for a new album, a tour, a return to the sad sack but upbeat music. Turns out it’s looking like a 10 year reunion tour of the “Give Up” album. Which I will totally be the first in line for but ya know a new album never hurt anyone. Also, should we start taking bets that the Coachella lineup will include the Postal Service reunion? I’ve got fiiiiive on it.
UPDATE: Consequence of Sound is reporting that Postal Service will release a reissue of their 2003 album “Give Up” BUUUUTT it will include two new songs, and a ton of remixes and rarities! WHOOHOO! Check out the tracklisting and info at CoS. Bring on the tour dates!
Ashlee Simpson
Hey guys – remember when Ashlee Simpson lip synced on SNL, dated that guy who looked like a hedge hog and had an MTV reality show? Well, she’s back, only now she says the ef word while doing ballet in a terrible video her sister probably shot on her iPhone. We’ve (not) missed you!
Justin Timberlake
I’ve saved the best for last… if you’ve known me for any length of time you know of my deep deeeeppp, long, surviving, abiding, love for Mr. Justin Timberlake and his former employer NSYNC. So news of him finally coming out with new music for the first time in seven years made me cartwheel and do backflips and
Ok, so no one’s reinventing the wheel here. At all. “Suit and Tie” has a nice chill vibe that features another dude who needs to come out with a new album: Jay Z. This is totally on your “getting ready to go out mix” that you listen to with your girls or your honey before you hit the town or before you devour that bowl of ramen and season 4 of The Wire. Whatever. He literally could have burped the alphabet and recorded it and called it a single and I would have been down, scouring the interwebz for the remix. Seven years will do that to a girl. I’m just glad JT’s back and there’s promise of a NEW full length album. And if this new song brought us nothing else but this picture:
I say: Mission freaking Accomplished.
Daaaaaaaayyyyyyum.
Anyone not a JT fan? Anyone think Suit and Tie is the best/worst thing they’ve ever heard? Should we start taking bets on Coachella and Postal Service now?
