When SHIELD fell in Winter Soldier, the agents had to root out Hydra within their ranks. Since then the TV Universe and the Movie Universe has diverged but if you’ve followed the show, you’ll know why Phil Coulson wasn’t at a particular funeral in Endgame.

If you don’t know, you can watch season 5 on Netflix but Season 6 begins airing Friday, May 10. I’m just warning you, that anything you see in the trailer for Season 6 below will spoil season 5. You’ve been warned. And I’ll give you a quick recap below. Final warning, spoilers spoilers!
Season 6 Trailer
A Quick Spoilery Recap
When we last saw our trusty Agents in Season 5 they were back from Space! Most having returned to the lighthouse and making that their base. The earth is still in one piece, Daisy/Quake hasn’t broken it into a million pieces. Coulson is dying, no Tahiti Project this time. In fact, that may be what is killing him. Fitz was fatally hurt in battle with Talbot. To be honest, rewatching this episode so close to watching Endgame was not a good idea for me.

There are a few new characters if you haven’t been following along, Deke came back from the future and he’s Fitzsimmon’s grandchild and crushing on Daisy? Agents Piper and Davis stick around for a while on a mission with Daisy and Simmons. If you missed the last five minutes of Season 5 because you were crying at Coulson’s funeral, Fitz died, or put himself into a cryo-chamber and jettisoned himself to deep space to try to fix himself? I’m not sure. Now they’re looking him or a past version of himself because time travel? Because wait, did you see the episode where THEY GOT MARRIED!?!?!?! Is it the multiverse? I DON’T KNOW!!
If you left Agents of SHEILD, it might be time to come back and give them a second chance this Friday. I saw the episode already and I’m impressed with where they are headed. Thirteen episodes this summer to see what’s up and Season 7 already confirmed for next summer! I’m surprised by that. But we’ll see. At the Wondercon panel everyone but Chloe and Ming were in attendance because they were still filming. but it was pretty exciting to see what was next in store for our Agents!
