Honestly, I’ve watched more horror shows then I can remember or will admit to, but these three are some of my favorites.
Cargo
You. All. I LOVED this movie. I loved this movie so much I am making it my mission to force my husband to watch it (he hates the entire horror genre). First, let me direct you to the lead of Cargo, Martin Freeman.
What I loved about this movie wasn’t the horror of the zombie-like creatures plaguing Australia, it’s the horror of the situation this desperate father is in with his infant daughter. Martin Freeman does such a beautiful job of drawing you into his plight that you almost forget about the zombies all together. Check out the trailer below and watch Cargo on Netflix.
The Rain
My husband couldn’t get into this show, but not because it’s super scary (although it does have it’s moments), rather because this show is has been dubbed in English. Apparently, anime that has been dubbed in English is on a different level than actual live action shows (insert eye roll). The Rain starts out with Danish siblings Simone and Rasmus being left in a bunker by their parents with no clue as to what is going on, other than the rain is killing people and to stay put. Six years pass and running out of food, they decide to leave the safety of the bunker. The world they find is completely gone and in its place is a world with new rules and dangers. They must find a way to survive. This show is a slow burn that will take you in a direction you just don’t see coming. Also, Netflix has approved a second season of this show! Check out the trailer below (this trailer has subtitled but the show is in English) and check out The Rain on Netflix.
Train to Busan
Oh. My. God. This movie. It’s so good. If you’re looking for a scary as hell, intense, probably won’t be able to ride a train ever again, zombie movie, this one is for you.
This movie is in subtitles. But, that’s a really good thing, because otherwise, it may have been too scary for me to watch it. A father and daughter take a train and on their journey are met with fast-moving ravenous zombies. This movie is action-packed and non-stop terror, there may have been several times I watched from behind a pillow. And while it is clearly a movie where there is a lot of gory awful things happening, it’s also a movie that makes you care deeply about the main characters and their plight. Train to Busan is a movie I highly recommend to all my zombie loving friends. Good news on this one too, they’ve started filming the sequel! Attempt to watch Train to Busan on Netflix!
There you have it, three very different but all good things to watch on Netflix over the weekend!
