Remember earlier this month when reviewing a book that said over 30-somethings wouldn’t want to go to Coachella? And I bemoaned the fact that the year I turned 30 Nine Inch Nails and Coldplay were the headliners? Well, this over 40-year-old with a small tinge of social anxiety who hates crowds and general admission anything has a serious case of FOMO right now. Yes, there were amazing Instagram worthy shots of a ferris wheel and a giant star thingy.
Early Sunday Morning as news started to make its way out of the polo grounds in Indio—the live streams, the snaps, the tweets—it became clear that everyone not at Coachella this year missed an amazing performance, now called #Beychella. HelloGiggles has links to the full performance here.
A full marching band? Jay-Z? Destiny’s Child reunion? A dance off with sister Solange? This is the halftime show from 2013 that we the people deserved. This performance was 2+ hours, had non-stop choreography, and was done in heels! I will admit, I am not the typical Beyoncé acolyte. But damn, I see the appeal.
Celebs hanging out at Coachella
Aisha Tyler hanging out with Emily Bett Rickards and Colton Haynes (both of the Arrow-verse) as they head out to the polo grounds.
Adele posted three videos to Instagram which show her watching the live stream. Let’s be honest, this is all of us who weren’t there.
Best Tweets
I scrolled through Twitter and found some of the best tweets about the performance.
Next time someone tells you they want to have a more diverse writers room but they can’t find any women and POC, tell them Beyonce found TEN black women who play violin.

Chyron who? In this thread was this gem…
My hands down favorite part about this is how every twenty mins or so a title card pops up that says BEYONCE. As if anyone were accidentally tuned in at this hour and went, “Harold, who is this singer? Use the google machine, I like her outfits.”

I can’t imagine this weekend will be a carbon copy, with a song catalog as large as Queen Bey’s. I’m sure we’ll see the same guests. Now, if you happen to have $500 laying around, resale General Admission tickets over on Ticketmaster are there. The VIP section is going to run you $1045. Also be sure to get shuttle passes to the polo grounds, and somewhere to stay, because the hotels are booked.
