For years I removed my wedding ring to go to the gym since the workout equipment scratched the gold and the diamond would annoyingly spin around my finger. My husband works in a manufacturing facility where jewelry can present a danger by conducting electricity or getting snagged on equipment leading to potential amputation. Jimmy Fallon brought awareness to this issue a few years backs when a random in home accident almost cost him his finger.
I was resistant to wearing a silicone ring when my husband first purchased them. Why does my hand need to look married at the gym? As a 40 something mother of two I am not exactly bait for the muscle head crowd.
But it was comfortable, and didn’t cause blisters. In time I wore it more and more as my hands are constantly in water with cooking, cleaning, childcare, and pets. Trust me, when you clean poop out of a horse’s tail because some fool decided farm animals need to be clean in a show ring, it’s better to not wear your diamond.
Qalo is the brand most people are familiar with, but I like the price and pretty metallic colors of Safe Ringz. Safe Ringz is the original silicone wedding ring company and most of their rings cost between 12 and 16 dollars, which is awesome considering my husbands original wedding ring is somewhere in the Atlantic Ocean. Safe Ringz color choices are more stealth than other brands, looking closer to a traditional wedding band.
My first silicone ring was teal, and I can not tell you how many people thought I had some crazy gangrene situation on my finger.
Heat resistant, nonconductive, easily replaceable and designed to snap under pressure freeing you from possible dismemberment, these rings are great for firemen, law enforcement, factory workers, electricians, linemen, contractors, agricultural workers, health care providers and athletes. Even my 76 year old mother wears one for water aerobics at the YMCA as chlorine damages gold and gemstones over time.
A variety of colors and styles are available from many companies. The best quality rings are those from Safe Ringz, Qalo and Enso with prices up to around $40.00.
Cheaper alternatives are available, some as low as $7.99 for a bundle of multicolored options, but these tend to have noticeable seams or irregularities in color.
This holiday you can protect a loved one or their valuable jewelry with Safe Ringz.
