Where You’ve seen Him Before
Downton Abbey fans will recognize him as Lord Anthony Gillingham, Lady Mary’s favorite-but-ultimately-unsuccessful suitor. And he appeared in the Ken Follett miniseries World Without End as the hunky-but-down-on-his-luck farmer Wulfric.
Tom also just appeared in the BBC One show Gunpowder as Guy Fawkes, one of the masterminds of the 17th century plot to blow up the House of Lords and kill King James I. Don’t worry US peeps, it will be available on HBO starting Monday, December 18th!
Who knows how to Photoshop someone into the middle of that Tom Cullen-Kit Harrington sandwich? Asking for a friend.
Why He’s Totally Crushable
- That beard is perfection. I am not normally a lover of beards. My husband knows to not expect kissing during sex for the whole month of No-Shave November. And I voted two thumbs WAY down in the great Tom Hiddleston Beard Debate. But Tom Cullen’s beard is on point. It needs its own Instagram account. Or a place in The Louvre.
- He’s not a one trick pony. Not content merely to act (and grow the world’s sexiest facial hair), Tom Cullen also co-founded a theater company, where he wrote and directed a full-length play. He also wrote and produced a short film. AND reportedly managed a Mexican restaurant at one point, so….skillz.
- He has excellent taste in women. Tom has been dating Orphan Black‘s Tatiana Maslany since they both appeared in World Without End in 2011. I’ve never seen Orphan Black, but TN writer Beth says she’s amazing in it. I only know her from a tiny role she had in Parks and Rec, but her snarky and fed-up performance was so magnificent that I knew she was legit. Well done, Tom. I approve.
Where To See Him Next
Tom will next be appearing in Knightfall, a new show from The History Channel. He plays the lead role of Landry, a Templar Knight in the 13th Century charged with recovering the lost Holy Grail. Landry is a man of faith, duty, and honor, but he has secrets (read: LADY PROBLEMS) that threaten to destroy everything he’s worked for. Tom is amazing in the show, and not just because he looks incredible splattered with blood and clad in chain mail (that’s big a big ole bonus). His portrayal of Landry is raw, honest, and completely absorbing. Watch the trailer and be sure to tune in this Wednesday, December 6th when it premieres on The History Channel!
