Almost Midnight
Her newest is Almost Midnight, a collection of illustrated short stories that is coming out November 2, 2017. ILLUSTRATED! BY! SIMINI! BLOCKER!
Anyone who has been a Rainbow Rowell fan for as long as we have will remember Simini’s fan art as some of the absolute best (and the gold standard for head canons) to come out of the Eleanor and Park era. She was drawing Eleanor’s hair and Park’s bedroom to such perfection that she and Rainbow ended up becoming good friends.
And now, they have collaborated on this book, and it truly looks like a whimsical, romantical delight. Rainbow shared some of the art on her website this week, and I could not love it more.
The stories have been published elsewhere, if you remember they are the goodness that is “Midnights” and “Kindred Spirits,” but this special edition will be a gorgeous addition to your library shelves. I love a properly illustrated book. This look at the marginal illustrations and details reminds me of reading AA Milne as a kid.
Just enough whimsy to balance the swoon.
