We’re Finally Discussing the Thor: Ragnarok Trailer

Sure the Thor: Ragnarok trailer dropped basically a month ago, but really that just means I’ve been thinking about it for an entire month now, really ruminating on every shot and preparing an excessively detailed post about all the easter eggs and predictions… right?  Yeah, no. Sorry. I just got busy and never got around to writing up my reaction post. But now here it is!!!

Plot Prediction

So it seriously looks pretty great, especially for all those Jack Kirby diehards, but what’s it all mean? Based on my super thorough research of all things Loki and Yggdrasil related, I’m going ahead and guessing that the plot will be something like this:

First Act:

1. Long monologue VO about who the eff Hela is

2. Loki and Hela working together cuz he’s Odin
3. Asgard is destroyed by a special sword that may or may also function as a hiding space for another infinity stone

Middle Acts:

1. Heimdall and Thor escape (second monologue where Idris Elba explains who Hela is and what her magic sword is, beyond the McGuffin),
2. They are attacked and Thor gets taken by Caiera (sure, sure she’s cast as the Valkyerie, whatever. It’s better as Caiera and don’t you deny it)

3. Thor is sold to Jeff Goldblum on Sakaar (TBD on if it’s actually Sakaar)
4. Arena scene we saw
5. Thor manages to undo Hulk’s controlling device with the help of Loki who was there (see what color that smoke is? Also Thor’s punch at Banner is incredibly specific looking, like he’s aiming for something…)

6. All three escape w/Caiera to Earth via portal in Grandmaster’s vehicle. Fingers crossed for a Loki-Thor flying banter scene with a Hulk punch involved.
7. Here they seek to find Doctor Strange so that he can use the Eye of Aramotto to locate the Orb of Aramotto (which is inconveniently in the Asgard vaults except duh Hela came to steal it so now actually it’s on Hel).

Final act:

1. Thor and Loki must go to Hel to take on Hela and retrieve the orb (and hopefully the magic sword).
2. Loki dies from Hela’s sword in an effort to save Heimdall.
3. Thor may die too.
4. Lots of death. I forgot to include Skurge in here somewhere. Possible Amora sighting due to this?
   
5. Remember, we learned in Doctor Strange that the Eye of Aramotto is the time gem… will that happen? Only to save Thor?
6. Fenrir?! Jormungandr? Angrboða?? Endless. Options. For. The. Tag.

Don’t say you didn’t see the full plot here first! (and yes, I realize that Thor has long hair when he’s on Earth and Hela destroys Mjolnir so clearly this plot isn’t accurate.)

Questions I still have:

• Why does Heimdall have long hair now when he never did before?
• I think Loki is definitely gonna die in this movie. The real question is, will Heimdall?
• Will Tom Hiddleston be back to fulfill his initial six film contract obligation?
• Is Peter Quill’s dad going to be in this film?
• Why the Hel isn’t Jane Foster in this film? Did Natalie Portman tell Marvel, “No, sorry. I’m over that franchise. Thanks bye.” or what?
• WHY CAN’T WE HAVE DARCY?!
• Where is Sif?????
• Why isn’t Zac Levi in this?????????????
• Do people actually enjoy gladiator arena scenes?

Okay, but I am serious on that last one… I want to do an official That’s Normal poll about this:

My Favorite Things From This Thor: Ragnarok Trailer

• “I know him!” (still makes me LOL)
• Hela’s costume being so epic and so associated to Loki’s costume. Daughter and Daddy corresponding outfits = SO CUTE.

Seriously though, Loki is totally hot again. I’m so glad I like Tom Hiddleston again. His little side glance here… seriously, how can you not want him? And boy is it gonna be easy to photoshop Jane Foster into that image…

I know Guardians 2 is out today, but seriously are you not so excited for Thor: Ragnarok and all its 1992 era glory???  Tell me in the comments.
