The Rose and the Dagger picks up where The Wrath and the Dawn leaves off, and will take you on an adventure of love, war, heartbreak, revenge, deceit, and magic. It is everything you want in a novel, with a few plot twists and a whole lot of swoon added in. Our main girl, Shahrzad, is just as bad-ass as she was in the first book, but reading the scenes with her and Khalid will have you swooning for days.
Shahrzad followed him with her eyes, aware she likely resembled a predator stlaking prey.
He removed a cushioned settee from behind his ebony desk and brought it before the bed. When Khalid sat down, he made a point of the distance between them –
A point Sharzad was not meant to mistake.
At this, she frowned. “That’s taking matters a bit far, don’t you think?”
“If I intend to think, then no. One could argue it’s not far enough.” Khalid leaned against the settee, his eyes flashing. Focused. Unflinching.
No. Shahrzad was not the predator. Not anymore.
Well, then.
Le sigh. And one more because while the whole story was so good, the swoon was probably my favorite part.
Khalid’s chest rose and fell on a deep inhale. “I wish you would not be so stubborn.” He echoed her earlier words as his thumb grazed her cheek.
As his eye rippled with unfettered emotion.
Shahrzad smiled. “Are you a genie or a fool?”
“A food. As I’ve always been when it comes to you.”
“At least you can admit it.”
“At least twice.” One side of his mouth curled upward. “And only to you.”
*Wipes dopey grin off face*
