Seven Reasons to Watch the 2018 World Cup Semifinal: France vs. Belgium

in Sports on 07/10/18 by Lorena Leave a Comment

Four years have passed since Brazil and the 2018 World Cup is well underway in Russia. Maybe you have been watching every match like me, or maybe you are parachuting in for the final rounds. Either way, the 2018 World Cup Semifinals have arrived and it’s time to get serious about the beautiful game’s beautiful men.

The France vs. Belgium semifinal game takes place in Saint Petersburg at 2:00pm Eastern Daylight Time (US) on Fox / Telemundo and there are seven reasons you should tune in…

Three French Reasons

Kylian Mbappé

Last time France won the World Cup was in 1998… in the summer, when the World Cup is always played (except for next time–side eye to corrupt Sepp Blatter and Qatar). But with his December birthday, this French wonder kid was not even born yet! Bet he’s hoping to see France win in his lifetime!

So, yes, he is only 19, but he is really cute! Plus he’s an incredible talent to boot (pun intended?). I would say keep an eye out for this one, but his smile and his footwork will hone your eye to him all its own.

Antoine Griezmann

Personally, I never looked twice at this Atletico Madrid striker. He seemed like a straightforward looking guy, but nothing to write home about. I’ll admit he’s incredibly talented, but just not my type. Or so I thought. Then during a group game in this World Cup, the camera cut close on him, I realized he looked alarmingly like Henry Cavill. Once I saw it, I couldn’t unsee it.

Hugo Lloris

Sure, I have listed him before, but guess what? Lloris is still super hot and still a class keeper. In fact, his save against Uruguay in the quarters to keep France in the lead heading into halftime was so sexy, I knew right then he’d be back on the list should they go through.

Three Belgian Reasons

Romelu Lukaku

Am I biased because Lukaku plays for Manchester United? Of course. Should that matter for you in forming your opinion on The Big Man? Absolutely not. Just look at him! That is 6’3″ and 207lbs of glorious man. Now wait for him to dribble it right up the middle and crush the hopes and dreams of his opponents, and I promise you’ll be screaming his name at your TV screen, too.

Jan Vertonghen

One of the rare times a defender makes the list, Jan is a classic handsome. He plays for Tottenham and seems like one of those shy guys, but he is definitely visible on the pitch. Also, total DILF.

Nacer Chadli

Man bun lovers, this is your guy. Chadli is beautiful on and off the pitch. He scored a superb game winner in the Round of 16 against Japan in the 94th minute. Oh, and if you missed it back in 2014, he posed naked for male cancer awareness in Cosmo.

One French and Belgian Reason

Seems confusing, I know, but if you glance at Belgium’s bench, you won’t be able to miss the stunner of an assistant Thierry Henry. You may remember him from the New York Red Bulls (I know how all TN readers are massive MLS fans lol) but more likely you remember him from the French national team that won in 1998 and of course Arsenal.

Well, he has only gotten more attractive I’m happy to say, and he really knows how to make the full beard look work. Like, omg. Bearded guy alert for sure here. So, you see how it’s complicated. He’s French, but he’s on the Belgian coaching staff. I for one am very comfortable with this.
