You know that big game this weekend where guys dress up in matching tights and shirts and throw a ball to each other and then some old dad band and your little sisters fave pop princess sing songs together during the middle of it? Yea, the Super Bowl. This morning Lionsgate rolled out their Super Bowl pregame Divergent Series: Insurgent trailer over on MTV. And well, we have questions. Because: of course we do!
1. WHERE IS THEO?!?!!?
Honestly. Like, did he miss his call time and the crew just decided to film this instead or was he too busy sharpening his vampire fangs for the new Underworld movie? I think we’ve asked this question in just about every other Insurgent post. Seriously, we want to know, why is he not being included? Why is the main male character of this movie series not being included in the marketing?
2. Where’s the story?
Clearly, this Insurgent trailer is all footage from a simulation that Tris is going through and we get that, lots of sims happening in the Divergent series but where is the story? Where are the characters and relationships we love? We get that these are trying to appeal to a wider audience, but what about the fans who made this popular? Shouldn’t you appeal to them on some level too?
3. Do you really need to appeal to men?
Take it from your other YA turned movies Twilight and Hunger Games, you don’t need the men to be buying advanced tickets, sure that would be nice but we’ll let you in on a little secret, if you make it good enough we’re going to see it again… and again… and probably again, alone on a Saturday at 9AM with a bunch of teenagers. And you know what else, the men will come, because we will take them. You know who I saw the last Hunger Games movie with? My friend and my… BOYFRIEND.
4. Is it March Yet?
Even with all our questions, we’re still dying to see this movie. So stop making us ask questions and get us to the movie theater. STAT.
