First we have to ask you: Have you read any (or all) of the Original Sinners series? Not to go all dominatrix on you, but DO IT NOW! We love these smart, kinky, and funny books, and now we know why: Author Tiffany Reisz! We had the opportunity to sit down and chat with her about all things Original Sinners and all of us were ready to lick her boots afterward. Yes, she left us fangirling, hard. She is just that amazing, and provided some of the best lines you’ll hear, well, ever.
We will be rolling out a series of her witty observations and bons mots over the next few weeks in anticipation of the release of the 6th book in the Original Sinners series: The King!
As with any good convo about BDSM, it is important to get appropriately comfortable. As such, we brought our own “human footstool,” in the form of Danny Gee (@furniturefellow). Danny just loves to have women put his feet up on his back, which is something that happens in Tiffany’s series on the regular. Danny ended up front and center on the screen, and because Katy Grace just got new editing software, she could not resist decorating him a little bit. She’d apologize, but she knows he loves it!
It’s not erotica if no one gets hurt
To start off, she explained the difference between erotica and romance. You may be thinking:
Romance is all this:
While Erotica is more this:
But Tiff set us straight:
Or put another way, it’s like going to a Hedonism resort by yourself vs heading over to Disneyland with the fam. Both can be a great trip, but there are a lot more Os happening at the former.
Not for faint of heart
Recognizing how hard these books can be to read, we asked Tiffany why she thinks readers, after an initial bout of horror about the content, end up liking these books so much:
We will be your submissives ANY day, lady!
The question that everybody wants to ask
You know you’re curious: Caning? St. Andrew’s crosses? Fire play? How the hell does Tiffany know about all this stuff?
We love how open she is about this! she’s like:
Or wherever the hell it is she lives.
There will be kink. Oh yes, there will be kink. But she was very clear that while some may find the content wild or shocking, the books are “tame” compared to what goes on in the real BDSM world. (Did you not hear the part about “the hammer, a guy’s testicles and 34 nails?” Shiver)
The inevitable 50 shades comparison
Maybe you read it. Maybe you just heard about it. But 50 Shades of Grey is touted as the series that brought BDSM into the mainstream. Here we find out what the hell Tiffany makes of the whole 50 Shades of Grey thing:
So, in case there was any doubt, this series is not for anyone’s MeeMaw. Or as TR said, “These books are not for everyone.” She doesn’t want them to be for everyone. Kinda like music loses it’s edge when it becomes mainstream, she put it best when she said,
” It would lose a lot of it’s charm if your parents were into it too.”
Why on God’s green earth . . .
. . . would anyone do this? I mean, OUCH!
It’s the ever-present question from us in the ‘vanilla’ world. Here’s Tiffany’s take on that:
One of the things we really love about these books, is that we actually come away understanding why the characters engage in this, even though it may not (or MAY?) appeal to us.
So remember, kids: “this is not a how-to book”, so don’t be thinking you can read them, then immediately throw on your latex and go pee on someone. DON’T DO THAT. DO start reading the Original sinners series, starting with The Siren. You should be caught up with the series just in time for the release of Tiffany’s new book, ‘The King’, on November 25th!
Tune in next time when Tiffany sez: “Two cocks are better than one!”
