Doctor Who Countdown: THREE More Days!

Hello, hello fellow Whovians! The epic week-long Doctor Who series 8 premiere countdown continues on That’s Normal with today’s installment of the 3 most epic songs from modern Who.  Little known fact that I used to have a ridiculous crush on the show’s composer, Murray Gold. It’s the kind of crush you Outlander peeps are developing on Tobias Menzies, except Murray shaves his thinning blonde hair.

Anyway, I’ll avoid going into the full details of the musical history of Doctor Who… suffice it to say that Russel T Davies hired Murray to work on Queer as Folk and that turned out super well (BAFTA nomination, anyone?) so he asked him to do the music for his reboot of Doctor Who. And then they got National Orchestra of Wales involved and Ben Foster became the orchestrator and you can understand why I love the music for Doctor Who 😉

3. “Doomsday” from Series 2

(Rose’s goodbye / Bad Wolf Bay hologram moment)

2. “This Is Gallifrey: Our Childhood, Our Home” from Series 3

(The Master)

1. “I Am the Doctor” from Series 5

(Eleven’s theme)

• “A Dazzling End” from Series 4 (Rose sends Donna back in time to save the universe)
• “Four Knocks” from The Specials Series 4 (YOU WILL CRY)
• “Together or Not at All – The Song of Amy and Rory” from Series 7 (from their finale)
• “Boe” from Series 3 (when the ceiling opens in “Gridlock”)

And if you were having any doubts about how much I like Doctor Who’s music, just know that I had 2 of the songs in my wedding (yes, for real) and I own all of the soundtracks. Yes, all.
