But, I wanted to let everyone know the sad news: Star-Crossed has officially been cancelled. I won’t lie, I’m not at all surprised. I never see advertisements for it, whereas I see ads for The 100 all the freaking time (The 100 got renewed, btw. I’ve been watching that show as well, and once I recover from the loss of Star-Crossed I’ll write a post about it). So, I knew it was coming. I knew my efforts of renewal were for naught. But it’s been fun caring so much about something. Of course, you’d think that even though there’s only 1.3M viewers, the fact that William Shatner is one of them might count extra…! Pretty positive he’s not watching any other CW dramas!
With Star-Crossed cancelled, I wanted to give a nice homage to my favorite shortest lived show ever. Sure, the plot became overworked and they didn’t focus on the broader themes as effectively as they could. In fact, this whole show could be redone for adults not teens and be exceptionally more interesting and entirely enduring. Drop the Shakespeare notion that wasn’t even used (already broke down why that’s not even real) and promote the themes that they actually brought up and implemented. But, it wasn’t to be.
Instead we had an unfulfilled angst-ridden drama. I’ll admit that even I was unable to fully care about the characters by the end of things. And even though I could see the epic future ahead for Roman and Emery, I couldn’t quite grasp why they weren’t living that future now. Why after ten years hadn’t more progress been made between the species? Why wasn’t there political activism for true inclusion of the Atrians and actually having them come to table to discuss the future of their two species cohabitation? The Atrians had so many incredible advances, medicines, and technologies, yet the humans refused to partake. Sure the evil big pharma was trying to get on board with profits from cyper, but there is so much more that the species could gain from one another. Even if the Atrians became a sovereign nation and could develop things as they chose and live their lives as they wanted, it would still contribute to the advancement of both species. Humans can’t do sustainable deep space travel in 2014, so why wasn’t every astrophysicist in the sector daily to learn about it from the Atrians? So many missed opportunities with this show.
But what was so great about Star-Crossed? Why did it steal my heart so immediately? Let’s revisit our favorite moments of the show…

Luckily, I still haven’t watched the finale, the SERIES FINALE *sniff sniff*, so I have one more show left. Oh my gosh. They don’t prepare you for this in Managing Expectations class. I have had two people independently send me sympathy texts over the cancellation of this show. That has never happened before in my life. I need a Drake hug. Like now.
Share your favorite moments in the comments and collectively feel the sads with me. Star-Crossed may be cancelled, but it lives on forever in my heart.
