But we are not most sports sites. We are That’s Normal and our sports coverage is distinct. So, I’m here to tell you that my absolute favorite ManUtd player will be stepping in for the club’s final four games of the season as the interim manager. Who is this fine specimen of glory you may be asking… why of course it’s Ryan Giggs!
Sure I’ve introduced you to Ryan Giggs before, back in my post about why you should be watching the beautiful game, but I want to take this moment to really explore all my favorite aspects of Giggsy (as I call him at home, and apparently so does everyone else…).
To put this in perspective for you guys, I own two ManUtd jerseys and both of them have Giggs name and number on the back. If I were to purchase a wallbanger (yeah, that’s a thing), it would be of Ryan Giggs. I started learning Welsh because of Ryan.* He is the reason I became so devoted to ManUtd in particular, with that scruff and salt n pepper hair? My stomach actually still jumps when his face pops on screen during a game. Basically, Ryan Giggs is my Rob Pattinson.
*Okay, no, actually it was because of Russel T Davies
Looks Good In a Suit
Any Premiere League fan will tell you that managers (what they call coaches) just look best in a suit. You just look sharper in a suit (yeah New England Patriots, I’m calling you out here), even Tom Hiddleston knows this, what with his bespoke and razor sharp suits and Jaguar F-Types. I could tell you that Ryan Giggs is sexy as all get out in a suit, or I could just show you.
Welsh
Ryan is a Welshman. If you know anything about me, you know I have a thing for Welshmen. Confession: Ryan Giggs started this trend in my life. I find the Welsh accent to be more attractive than the English accent. There’s a journey to it, a series of hills and valleys and just a fullness to the accent that the standard English accent lacks. On a delayed train in Cardiff station waiting to go to Swansea there were several loud talkers, annoying everyone else I’m certain, but I just ate that shit up like it was chocolate.
So, besides Giggs, who else is Welsh and beautiful?
Point made.
Embodies Manchester United
Okay, so this one is a little more sports fan of me, but it’s true! I value that Ryan has been with Manchester United for his entire career. It’s rare to find these days, especially for a player of his caliber. Since Giggs was quite the ladies man in his hey day (um, and still today for some of us, even though he finally married the mother of his children a few years ago*), and since we may not see him sporting his #11 again (#sadz!) I wanted to give a career journey homage to the man I adore and admire. Also, his glorious curls during the 90s hair…worth it, guys. Also, just to warn people, chest hair ahead. I’m into it, but not everyone is.
*Looked this up and realized it was 2007 not “a few years ago”. I appear to be in denial about this, guys.
So tune in Saturday when Manchester United takes on Norwich City for a meaningless game on ManUtd’s end and Norwich’s final clawings to stay in the Premiere League and avoid relegation (yeah, they kick out the bottom 3 teams in the Premiere League. It’s rough, guys). I know I will be watching even though Monday I had no plans to do so.
DON’T PANIC!
Guys, I know that you were thinking this would be the Hot Guys of Hockey: Because It’s the Cup edition and are sitting there going, “Where the hale is my sexy pic of Patrick Marleau with his playoff beard?” It is in work everyone! Do not panic! I am not only watching the Bruins-Detroit game while writing this post, I am also sporting my Penguins t-shirt. I am all over it. It is coming. Probably minus Tampa Bay… :-/
