So, I just finished a book where I literally cringed at some parts, the writing was so bad. Like bad, bad. I could actually see that bored mom sitting at her computer in her yoga pants and thinking somehow that, yep, this was some awesome original stuff. Usually the sex is pretty well written, I’ll give them that. [Who am I kidding…I am not hard to please when it comes to the sex scenes. It’s just all that filler in between that is the main problem.] I’m not denying that I actually found myself drawn to the main character. Because he’s rich, hot, and troubled, ladies. That’s right. BAD BOY. Needs to be saved from himself and all his destructive ways. He’s never wanted or needed love before. Luckily, we (we aren’t a supermodel, but really have no idea how beautiful we really are) are here to rescue him from himself, and we will live quite happily together, forever. And have headboard-destroying sexy times like 10 times a day, too. Phew. Is it hot in here? And who’s going to be doing the laundry and cleaning the house while we f*ck the day away? Why his staff, of course. Because he’s rich!! Didn’t I mention that?
Don’t know about you, but I’m starting to sense a little pattern here. Does anyone else feel like they could write a little new adult erotica? No? Well lucky for you, I’m here to help. With a template. Follow these easy steps and you too could be cranking out the trilogies. Which could lead to movie deals. Or at least a Slutbookweekly.com award for hawt male character of the week.

So, we’re going to leave this book with this cliffhanger conclusion. Will they or won’t they get together?? Can she rescue him from his self-destructive ways? Can he love her? I think we’ve set up book two nicely here. We leave the readers lusting after HRG and imagining themselves as (-e, -a, -y). Fan sites will appear. Hot, rich guy pics with quotes will appear on Pinterest. We have about 5 months to get book two ready, riding the wave before readers lose interest and move on to something else, so we’re good.
There it is. You are SOOOO welcome. Just make sure that I get to come on set when (Theo James, Jamie Dornan, or the Chicago Blackhawk’s Patrick Sharp) is shooting his sex scenes. Oh, and I get a cut of the royalties too, right?
No really, New Adult is all exactly like this, right?*
*Bekah note: YES. Which is why I loved Deeper by Robin York so much because it was so GOOD despite being NA.
