The video is a 2:15 minute feature of Tom’s preparations for Coriolanus, which Jamie and I are seeing TONIGHT via live stream in NYC! There are several important moments of this video, though you may need to watch it multiple times because the ladder workout will slay you the first couple times (seriously, I couldn’t actually remember anything else from the video until my third viewing).
I also loved the zip, zip, zip game part, which for those who didn’t have improv and acting aspirations in college (aka people who weren’t me and studied useful things instead), it’s a warm-up exercise you do with your troupe in order to quickly rebuild your non-verbal communication for the performance. It made me feel like I could hang with Tom (it was kind of like the Cumberbatch Thriller dance wedding video). The ending is also amazing and shows how intensely dedicated Tom is to his craft, but I’m not going to give it away…you’ll just have to watch (and then re-watch, and then re-watch, rinse, repeat).
Jamie W. and I will recap our experience of Coriolanus tonight whenever we’ve recovered from seeing Tom shower on stage.
