We weren’t quite sure what to expect last year, but after experiencing SDCC, I think I’m ready to dress up. Those were BY FAR the people having the most fun. Since some of this might involve actually making an outfit myself, I’ve enlisted an awesome coworker who is far better at this than I ever will be. Here are my options so far:
Six from Battlestar Galactica
We can talk about my BSG obsession some other time. For now, this is kind of a no-brainer. She’s got that sexy-but-might-kill-you quality that I seem drawn to, and I could honestly use that dress over and over again afterward. This is SENSIBLE cosplay, people. For the uninitiated, Six is a Cylon.
Starbuck from Battlestar Galactica
This just honestly seems more comfortable and/or fun. Look: pants! Ample sass! Plus, she wears aviators sometimes. It’s like Top Gun but with ladies. As an added bonus, this type of behavior is completely in character:
Which is actually pretty convenient, if this year’s shenanigans are anything like 2013’s.
Bo from Lost Girl
Leather jackets? Boots? A license to make jokes about how much it sucks to wear weird contacts? I’m in! Would definitely need to invest in a life-altering pushup bra, however, if I’m going to pass for a succubus.
Cola from Wild Blue Yonder
I’m awfully tempted to go a totally different route and bring Cola from WBY to life – would seem kind of fitting, seeing as I “met” her at Comic Con last year! This one would required some $$ investment, as I don’t currently have many items that could double as post-apocalyptic Amelia Earhart gear. Plus there’s the hair situation. There’s no way I’d look good with that haircut. Decisions!
Alright guys, I need your help! Important things to consider: can I move around in this easily? Can I drink heavily in this? What are the shoes like? Will this cover up taco bloat? Should I have a daytime cosplay and a nighttime cosplay for parties? Cast your votes here, and I’ll keep you posted on my progress as the road to SDCC 2014 continues.
