Do you know a person who really likes jewelry, but is not that into the whole Zale’s bling-thing? Does the thought of having to sort through the chaos that is ETSY.com (my worst offending hate-read) leave your palms sweating. Fear not! I am fortunate enough to live in a town blessed with Renegade Craft Fairs, so I am able scope all the crafty-bits first hand, and pass the info along to you, saving you from certain ETSY-related misery.
My favorite thing from the last fair were the necklaces from Fernworks. Artist Faryn Davis uses resin to make necklaces, earrings and rings. In one series, she casts grasses, seeds and other found objects in the resin:
And she also has a series in which she paints miniature scenes, mainly involving birds, flowers and telephone pole landscapes:
I have this one in the long format, and I absolutely LOVE IT! I get compliments all the time because it is so crazy-unusual without being in-your-face wacky.
These are a little pricey, so this would be a gift for your BFF, that special lay-dee friend of yours, your mom, or me (hint).
If you are looking for a more affordable gift, might I recommend these awesome Hall and Oates earrings from Leroy’s Place:
I saw these and HAD to buy them for my best friend, who carries (loaded) PEZ dispensers in her bag, doesn’t know how to operate a cell phone and unironically wears saddle shoes. So if you have one of those friends, this is the gift you’ve been looking for. They also offer versions depicting Prince/Michael Jackson, Lil Wayne/John Wayne and Rick Ross/Bob Ross, so they are perfect for all those on your list who long for the glory days of the late-80’s/early-90’s!
PS Bob Ross also comes as a key chain! Because EVERYONE could use one of those! Everyone.
Happy Holidays all!!
So just how many of the gifts from our gift guide 2013 have you added to your wish list?
