Since clearly everyone on That’s Normal was too jaded to watch this season so far, I will do a spoiler-free recap of the first four episodes (I know you all still DVRed it. And I’m behind a few episodes right now):
1. Unfortunately, Sookie is still stupid
but slightly less so, especially in her self-protection processes. We have to admire her bravery and loyalty, at some level, even though she’s just plain dumb most of the time. Also, I love her lace dress from Ep4, but wish it was in black. But I get why she’d wear white lace (her character’s aesthetic is 100% not mine).
2. Not to fret! The Arlene and Terry storyline is basically nothing.
Let’s hope it stays that way ALL SEASON long. I don’t need Noel from Felicity coming back in ANY form ever again.
3. Asshole Eric is BACK!!!!!!!!!
THANK GOODNESS. Now I actually get turned on when he takes his shirt off.
4. Faerie babies are HILARIOUS!
(remember last season when Andy’s fae lover popped out a litter of half-faeries and abandoned him with them?)
5. Bill’s WTF Lillith shit is being handled in a slow reveal, interesting way.
Moyer’s acting skills are actually being used this season! It’s rather exciting. But don’t expect him to be anything like Bill Compton… luckily we all realized actual book Bill Compton was gone in Season 3 when the Lorena plotline went waay differently than the books. Jessica is pulling her weight this season, too. Their teamed back up and both more bearable than ever.
6. There are two new villains and they’re both pretty good.
The show is actually scary again and full of unknowns.
7. There’s a new HOT GUY!
8. Alcide and Sam’s storylines are so far, so lame.
Werewolves are sooo annoying on this show, have you noticed that? This somewhat combined storyline might be the “crappy storyline” of this season. I’d hold my breath, but Sam is such an idiot. I wish he and Sookie would just get married… they’re both just such idiots. Don’t fret though, plenty of half naked Alcide 🙂
9. You still want to smack Pam and usually Tara
but their emotional journeys are being handled. You can see the foreshadowing and the tension. It’s not poorly done, they’re just stuck in an annoying stage of their development. The end of Ep4 is forcing a change to that though, and I think the writers have it under control.
10. La La is finally in somewhat of a relevant role again.
Hopefully it stays this way, since he’s one of the more interesting characters and better actors on the show. Love me some Nelsan Ellis! So far his scene is the only one that’s made me tear up.
So, buy some ice cream and get caught up! True Blood is finally back to being watchable!
Have you been watching this season? What do you think?
