Nancy Drew
In an unofficial quick poll I did, more than half of the young girls growing up read Nancy Drew books. I mean these date back to the 1930’s! Leave it to the CW to spice up Horseshoe Bay. Kennedy McMann plays Nancy and Scott Wolf (Party of 5) plays her father. The trailer has a Riverdale feel and I think will do well as it follows on Wednesday nights. It starts off with a murder so I think Nancy can do more than find that Hidden Staircase. This is more The Bungalow Mystery. Leah Lewis, Maddison Jaizani, Tunji Kasim, Alvina August also star.
First Look Clip:
Batwoman
With news that RPatz might take over the helm of Bruce Wayne, never have I LOLd so hard and immediately sent the gif of Ruby Rose saying “I’m not about to let a man take credit for a woman’s work” to a select few. If you haven’t been following the other coverage of Batwoman, then you’ve been sleeping on the fact that Ruby Rose is Kate Kane, Bruce Wayne’s cousin and now in charge of Wayne Enterprises. When we saw Batwoman in the Arrow/DC Universe crossover in December, that was present day.
This pilot takes place before that but three years after Batman left Gotham. Kate has been gone from Gotham for a while too. Her father had sent her away for her safety, but now the city is overrun by the Alice in Wonderland gang. Alice is played by Rachel Skarsten who you might recognize from Reign. Meagan Tandy, Dougray Scott, Camrus Johnson, and Nicole Kang also star.
KATY KEENE
Picking up mid-season is a Riverdale spinoff, Katy Keene. Katy Keene, Josie and Jorge Lopez/Ginger and Pepper Smith are done with Riverdale and headed to NYC. Now, I don’t watch Riverdale so I’m not sure if Katy appeared on the show before this or not, but I think that Lucy Hale had too many other shows that failed to make cameos on Riverdale unless she just recently popped in. But Josie I feel was there as part of Josie and the Pussycats. Anyway, we get to see these four out of Riverdale – which seems to be murder capitol of the Archie Comic-universe – so that’s good. Lucy Hale plays Katy Keene, Ashleigh Murray plays Josie, Jonny Beauchamp plays Jorge Lopez/Ginger and Pepper Smith is played by Julia Chan.
Greg Berlanti, King of CW
With Katy Keene, Greg Berlanti controls Sunday – Tuesday of the CW schedule and his production company produces more than half of the new shows on CBS next year. Seriously throw a dart, or rather an arrow and one of the shows you watch will have his name tied to it. The thing is, everything I’ve heard about him is he’s a great guy and everyone loves his stuff so everyone wants to work with him or for him, so yay for him.
