#TNReads: Real Quick Reviews for Lazy Readers Featuring Alexa Martin

in Book Reviews on 04/22/19 by Emily L Leave a Comment

It’s the Monday after Easter, and if you’re anything like me, you’re wishing you worked somewhere that gave you the day after Easter off to recover from all the day-drinking and jelly bean-eating you did with your cousins. Oops.

I wouldn’t do anything amazing with my day off, but I would be spending some real intimate time with my Kindle. Oh, and if your Kindle library is looking a little sparse, here are a few books you can add to your queue that are out now or coming out in the next week. Get ready, there are some good ones on the list today.

Fumbled

Written by: Alexa Martin

Released on: 04/23/2019

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Reviewed by:  Emily L

Rating: 4.5 sports ball fangirls

Recommended for: Anyone who’s fantasized about dating a professional athlete

I enjoyed Intercepted, but Fumbled is on another level. The characters are relatable, the romance is hot, and the conflict is so real and not your typical romance fodder. Poppy and TK are a couple you can’t help but root for. They have history, they have chemistry, and they both just seem like such GOOD people.

Alexa Martin is quickly becoming one of those authors I watch so I can hungrily grab each new release before everyone else. I read this book on a flight and would’ve been totally ok with a longer flight since I was ready to dive into the next couple in this series. Tackled? Quarter-Backed? Whatever the next one is, it’s on my TBR list!

Cassie Crow is on her dream vacation with her old college friends when she becomes the unsuspecting victim of an internet prank TV host. No, Logan Reid isn’t actually a time-traveling kilt-wearing Scot in a castle, but their instant chemistry was nothing but real. Now Logan has to try to convince an angry Cassie to sign a consent form to post the footage to his site or he won’t land his TV contract. Cassie has no intention of ever signing the form, but who is she to say no to the foreign fling she’s been looking for her whole vacation?

Then again, these things never quite work out the way we expect them to, do they?

Wicked Saints

Written by: Emily A. Duncan

Released on: 04/02/2019

Genre: YA Dark Fantasy

Reviewed by:  Janna

Rating: 3 Hot Monster Boys

Recommended for: Fans of the Grishaverse series, or dark and bloody things

For a century a holy war has raged between the countries of Kalyazin and Tranavia. Long ago, Tranavia abandoned the worship of the gods, using heretical magic through the use of blood spells. Main character Nadya is a Kalyazin cleric, an orphan chosen by the gods to wield their magic. She is being hunted by Serefin, the High Prince of Tranavia as well as a powerful blood mage. Rounding out the mc’s is Malachiasz, a mysterious, deadly Tranavian with whom Nadya reluctantly teams up. There’s battles, political and religious intrigue, enemies-to-lovers, and a lot, and I mean A LOT, of blood.

This a debut author, and the story definitely has some weaknesses. But it was a grim, dark setting with high stakes, and the plot twists, secrets, and huge cliffhanger ending will leave you desperate for more of the story. And if you liked the Darkling (or generally go for anti-heroes) get ready to fall into dark obsession with Malachiasz.

Fiction meets history as we learn about Charlotte’s ancestors, Cesca (Francesca) and Esperanza, who with there community keep a secret that could destroy their lives. At a time when many of us are researching our family histories through DNA testing and websites, Graham weaves a tale about how connecting with the past can build a more meaningful future.
