** It should go without saying at this point, but this post contains massive Game of Thrones spoilers and theories through Season 7, FYI **
We’re approximately three point five days away from the premiere of the FINAL season of Game of Thrones. I’ve been so caught up in the excitement of the impending season, what from the premiere to Kit Harrington hosting Saturday Night Live, and ALL the videos I’ve come across that I’m only now just thinking about how sad I’m going to be when the curtain drops on this show for the last time. BUT ANYWAY, I don’t want to be a Debbie Downer, so let’s thinking about the good stuff and that’s the season premiere this Sunday. And yea, it’s been like foreverrrrr since season 7 aired and who can remember ANYTHING that happened? Not me, I had to go back and watch several seasons, subscribe to the NY Times’ GoT email, watch about 100 videos, and reread some of the books to prep. But what non-nerd has the time for that? I’ve gathered all the important stuff that you need to remember right here in this handy guide.Everything You Need To Know Before The Final Season of Game of Thrones:
Tower of Joy / Jon’s Parentage
The Tower of Joy and R+L=J is one of the oldest fan theories I remember discovering when reading the Game of Thrones books years ago, and it’s for good reason. Why? Cause it’s a massive spoiler and it was true all a long as we only recently found out! Bran was taken by the Three Eyed Raven to the Tower of Joy where he ‘saw’ Ned as he found Lyanna in her ‘bed of blood’ along with a mysterious child. Of course Bran didn’t put two and two together until last season when Samwell Tarley told Bran that he (ahem, GILEY) discovered that Rhaegar Targaryen had wed Lyanna Stark in a secret ceremony and that in fact, Jon Snow was their child that Ned rescued from a dying Lyanna and took home to raise as his own bastard. Thus making Jon Snow, Aegon Targaryen (Aegon is Jon’s true name) and leading us to the next point…
Fun Fact: Legend has it that when producers Dan and Dave met with George RR Martin, he asked them to guess the parentage of Jon and if they guessed correctly, he would let them make the series… well they guessed R+L=J and the rest is history.

Aunt and Nephew Loving aka Dany + Jon
So since Jon Snow is really Aegon Targaryen, whose father is Rhaegar, who was Dany’s older brother (not the creepy one, Viserys)… this makes Daenyerus Jon’s AUNT.
And this is literally the sound I hear anytime I see them on screen together in any sort of romantic way. What a freakin’ bummer this whole storyline is. The discovery of this truth for both Dany and Jon is going to be pretty awful, I think. Especially for Dany… she will essentially be usurped from her throne by her nephew. UGH. Also there are theories of her being pregnant with Jon’s child swirling and well… I just don’t want to think about it.

.
Arya (& Gendry?)
Arya is essentially part of the House of the Undying now, she’s able to outwit, trick, and kill people with the skills she learned from Jaqen H’ghar. BUT she left him to return to Westeros to finish avenging her kill list which still includes: Cersei, Ilyn Payne (the man who killed Eddard Stark), The Mountain, The Hound (tho maybe when she left him to die she thought that was good enough), Beric Dondarrian & Thoros who sold Gendry to Melisandre, who is also on her list. Which brings up a good point, we better see a Arya/Gendry reunion… and if they really wanted to wreck havoc, it could turn romantic because there are theories that Gendry may not just be a bastard of Robert Baratheon’s, but actually the son of Robert and Cersei’s who “died” after birth. That could make it VERY interesting!
.
The Mad Queen Cersei
Maggy the Frog’s prophecy states that Cersei will only have three children (is she lying about a fourth child?) and she will be killed by her “little brother” — but will it be Tyrion, Jaime or perhaps a certain Stark wearing a face… a girl has no name after all! OR another fan theory points out that if Cersei is indeed pregnant with a fourth child from Jaime, that child would be the little brother of her children and could point out that Cersei may die in childbirth. WHO KNOWS?! Man, just thinking about the possibilities of this season is so exciting!

Bran – is he the Night King?
As we know it, Bran is officially now the Three Eyed Raven, and continues to be ‘weird’ as Sansa told Arya as he’s not really himself anymore. Along with the R+L=J, Bran as the Night King is another OLD fan theory that is back in the mix. This is a great video explaining how Bran’s extreme power of being able to warg into humans might actually trap him inside the Night King. So, it’s still a thing.

.
Viserion the Ice Dragon
Dany’s Dragon, Viserion is now an Ice Dragon, thanks to the Night King (or is it you, Bran?) who killed him with an ice spear. The Night King then changes Viserion into a fire ice breathing dragon, who can be ridden by the Night King, and burns down the Wall at East Watch, which lets the white walkers march through and into Westeros. There are fan theories that have Viserion being turned back into a real dragon and one that had Jon being able to ride him… sooo really the icy sky is the limit with this one and he’s sure to play a big part in the battle.

But what about Sansa and Jaime and Tyrion?!
I recently found the above videos wherein each actor breaks down the journey of their character through the most recent season. They are incredibly insightful, and full of tidbits I hadn’t heard before. This is time WELL spent! Videos include, Kit on Jon, Maisie on Arya, Lena on Cersei, Emilia on Dany, Peter on Tryion, Isaac on Bran, Sophie on Sansa, Nikolaj on Jaime, Iain on Jorah, and John on Samwell. Please watch! I even put them in a playlist so you don’t have to go searching for the various parts. You’re welcome!

There will be six feature-length episodes
So this means the last episode EVER of Game of Thrones will air on May 19th. Ten days after my birthday. Each episode is between between one or two hours each. Can we have more?! And I’m not talking about the upcoming prequel show.

The First Episode Airs Sunday, April 14, 2019
