I know, five books in four days. That’s a lot of reading. But I believe in myself. In full disclosure, it all depends on if my kids will leave me alone once we hit the sand. I’m packing a lot of snacks and beach toys. It could work out.
The Last Voyage of Poe Blythe by Allie Condie
River Pirates and Revenge, yes please. Perfect beach read. I loved the Matched series by Allie Condie. And the hype for The Last Voyage of Poe Blythe is palatable. This YA fantasy is at the top of my TBR. The Last Voyage of Poe Blythe just came out. You can buy it here on Amazon.
Two years after river raiders took everything from her, Poe Blythe is a captain of a gold mining ship on the River Serpentine. Motivated by revenge and suspicious of her own crew, Poe must navigate out of her grief if she’s going to survive.

Defy Me by Tahereh Mafi
AGghghghahhh! This just came out and waiting has been a small torture. I LOOOOOVE the Shatter Me series. Sooo ready for this book. Love Tahereh Mafi. Seriously, she and Ransom Riggs are a full bookish power couple. You can follow their adorableness here.
Now Defy Me is the fifth book in the series so you should probably read the first four books before diving into this one but if you love the Shatter Me series then you probably already have this book in your beach read pile too. If not, you can buy it here on Amazon.
Two Can Keep a Secret by Karen M. McManus
This cover though! I loved One of Us is Lying by Karen M McManus. If you haven’t read it, you need to. Think Breakfast Club with a Pretty Little Liars vibe. Two Can Keep a Secret is a YA murder mystery that slays. (I know, but I had to. It extra slays.) Who doesn’t love a murder mystery beach read?
Secrets are dangerous, especially in the small town of Echo Ridge. Forced to move in with a grandmother she barely knows, Ellery discovers everyone in this small town has a secret to hide. You can buy Two Can Keep a Secret on Amazon now.

Shrill: Notes from a Loud Woman by Lindy West
Yes, I’m late to this party. You can read Amy and Lindsey’s review of it back in 2016. They loved it. But when I saw Hulu created a series starring Aidy Bryant based on the book, I figured I should probably read the book first. If you’ve read the book, you should binge the show now.
Shrill by Lindy West is a memoir of being a plus-size woman in a skinny world. She battles Internet trolls with humor and shares hilarious survival tips for women who don’t quite fit media-focused stereotypes. Need to read it too? You can buy it here on Amazon.

Sky Without Stars by Jessica Brody and Joanne Rendell
Les Mis in Space. Yup, fast and delicious, please. If it is anything like Brightly Burning, then I’m in. Seriously, isn’t this cover gorgeous? Definitely going to ignore my kids while I read this one. This YA novel brings a thief, an officer, and a guardian together just as an imminent revolution on a French planet erupts.
Need more convincing? You can read the first chapter on Jessica Brody’s website.
