I recently wrote a post on what my favorite kids shows are on Prime, so I will do a follow-up post to my favorite kids’ YouTube channels. But, until then, I want to talk about what I am binge-watching once my kid goes to bed.
****Hi! Hello! Laura here! It’s now 2020 and everything sucks so bad but even more, I suck so bad for ever believing in and writing about my support for shitty people. If you’d like my current thoughts and opinions on Jeffree Star and Shane Dawson, please click here. ***
Beauty Channels
I am OBSESSED with make-up. Straight-up, I have spent a disgusting amount of time watching beauty gurus on YT. And if you’re like me and you watch all the big gurus, then you probably also watch the damn drama channels that have popped up because we love nothing more then spilling the tea.
So, who am I watching? These days, just Tati and Jeffree Star. I LOVE Tati for her wide range of beauty products that she reviews. She has reviewed everything from drugstore to high-end luxury, k-beauty to weird and wild make-up and beauty products. She also has the most calming and soothing voice, I know it’s weird but sometimes, if I can’t fall asleep, I listen to Tati videos. She also isn’t afraid to give her honest and sometimes savage reviews on products, even if she gets kicked off of a company’s PR list. Which she has. A lot. Check out this video:
Jeffree Star is my other favorite. I don’t say “second” or “next”, I mean my equally loved other favorite. Jeffree isn’t just a YT beauty guru, he is a beauty MOGEL. He is the owner of Jeffree Star Cosmetics, a former MySpace star, a former musician, and a big-time businessman. Jeffree does his own thing and honestly, I love him so much it’s borderline weird. I just really appreciate a human (or alien as he likes to be called) that lives their best life and doesn’t give a fig about how others feel about it. I am jealous of Jeffree’s purse collection (Hi Birkin Bags, how are ya?) and my husband is jealous of his car and pinball machine collection. Check out this video:
Shane Dawson
So, I don’t have a category for Shane Dawson. He’s really just a category all his own. I have to be so honest here, I knew “of” Shane, but I had never watched a video of his until he did his series with Jeffree. After that amazing series, I binged watched Shane hardcore. He’s done it all. He has 21 million subscribers on YT. He owns the world’s most adorable orange and white cat named Cheeto and I want to snuggle him so badly. The cat, not Shane. No offense Shane, I just super love your cat! Speaking of Shane’s cat, here is one of my all-time favorite YT videos EVER:
Funny People
Does Shane fall into the funny person category? Yes, but as I said, he could technically fit into all the categories, so that’s why he is his own.
Jenna Marbles is a wildly successful and just really cool YouTuber that seems like exactly the kind of girl I want would be BFFs with. She recently made a horrendously ugly chair out of jeans and FINALLY did something that I have been screeching about for years: she called out 5-minute Crafts for not being five minutes AT ALL. Thank you, Jenna. Watch that video here:
I wrote a whole post dedicated to Randy Rainbow, but I couldn’t write a favorite YT post without mentioning him again. Since writing that post, I actually had the amazing opportunity to see Randy live in Washington, DC, and he was amazing. Check him out here:
Remember that time I urged everyone to prepare to die? Well, you can all thank Caitlin Doughty for that. Caitlin is a mortician, author (check out her books, they are so good), YouTuber and Podcaster, she’s also really funny (which considering her job titles, is a hard this to incorporate into her videos). She’s also a business owner, and just a really kick-ass lady. This video that I am linking below has been so helpful to me in my personal life and I hope it’s helpful to you as well.
That’s Normal
YES, THAT’S RIGHT! WE HAVE A YOUTUBE CHANNEL!
What kinds of things can you expect to see on our YouTube channel? Booze. Lots and lots of booze. Outlander, Discovery of Witches, Doctor Who, and of course Harry Potter (all of these videos are also available on iTunes in podcast form as well!). Here’s a random episode of our TARDIScuss hangout, Lorena loses it over a talking frog in this episode, which is why I chose it. Not because I’M in it or anything like that.
So, there you have it friends, my top favorite channels on YouTube. Why in the world would you EVER pay for cable when you have a whole free platform like YouTube just waiting to be discovered?
