This year our gift guide is slightly different and features different ideas from a bunch of team members. We are featuring TWELVE Days of Christmas and will bring you different gift ideas Monday – Friday.
We love these posts because they help OUR Holiday shopping, so we hope you find them helpful too. Let’s get to it!
Wizarding Gifts for Young and Old
The small Potterheads in my house are getting Wizard Training Wands that the husband and I plan to pilfer regularly. I’m sure I’m going to need a Costco pack of batteries, but I’m pretty sure that gift-opening is going to come to a screeching halt when they open these and need to try them out. For a kidlet that needs something to keep them busy over Christmas break, practicing the right motions to cast certain spells should do the trick, but I’m most forward to the mode that’s basically laser tag with wands.
My obsession with brooches continues, and this lovely pin that supports J.K. Rowling’s charity, Lumos, is the latest addition to my collection. It features Newt Scamander’s wand and an Occamy. Lumos works to help children stay with families and out of orphanages, and the Occamy, the fantastic beast that shrinks or grows depending on the size of its habitat, seems to me an apt choice of mascot. This pin’s size and design makes it work on a man or woman and it’s my favorite kind of subtle merch that makes you stand out to another fan, but that no Muggles will notice.

For the Classy HP Fan
I may not be a teen, but the PBTeen Harry Potter collection is going to make me pretend I’m one. You’ve always wanted to live in a Hogwarts dorm, right? Well, here’s your chance. This collection has bedding, accessories, lighting, knick-knacks, and more, and IT’S ALL HARRY POTTER THEMED! But in the classiest way. If you’re like me and have no desire for a FunkoPop thingie but still want to show your fandom love, this collection is for you. I’m especially coveting the Hedwig cage meant to house all your jewels. I’ve never seen a jewelry holder like it. I must have it.
Check out the entire collection here. Or just the jewelry stand here.

Game of Thrones Limited Edition Scotch
Here at TN, we drink and we know things. I mean, a few of us may be more talented than that, but I’m not. So, when I saw a FB post from my local liquor store I called up Santa and promptly added them all to my list. After Santa got done laughing at me, I paired down my wish list to the House Targaryen (Cardhu Gold Reserve), White Walker (Johnny Walker), and The Night’s Watch (Oban Bay Reserve). I’m basically the female version of Ron Burgundy; I really love Scotch. Also, in this case, Santa is my Mom.
The collection runs between $45-$75 a bottle depending on which house you choose. Check your local liquor stores for these collectible GoT dranks and prepare thyselves for the series finale in 2019.

Wrap Up in the Night Court
So you have that friend who likes her Young Adult novels with a little more sex appeal … ok a lot more sex appeal, but you don’t think you can get her a framed print of the fanart that she has saved on that “Untitled Folder” of her MacBook. But you know that she absolutely LOVES the Court of Thorns and Roses series by Sarah J Maas, and you want to honor her totally normal obsession.
This is where Society6 has your back. Society6 is my favorite fan art turned good stuff website – it’s where I get ALL of my iPhone cases because the dorkery is subtle, but the quality is AMAZING. (The cases are very slim, so your phone stays pocket-ready, but they are great at protection too). But they aren’t just for iPhone cases. Find a print or graphic that you like and you can get it on just about anything – backpack, water bottle, tapestry, sticker, canvas, throw – and all of them are really great quality.
So for your horny book loving friend who loves Rhys, check out this subtle Night Court graphic. I suggest the throw, so she can read one-handed and no one will know why. (If you’re wondering why the throw is $60 and not $10 like the fleece ones you can get at Old Navy, it’s because they are heavy duty and SO SOFT. It’s worth the price). Buy it.
