Which is why I already have about 50 books picked out to read next year. And that’s just a starting point – you know I have to set some ridiculously high Reading Challenge goal. There are a ton of amazing books coming out in 2019, but there are a select few that I’m super DUPER hyped for. Trust me, you’re going to want to add these to your TBR.
The Wicked King
If you’re a member of Boozy Book Club, you know that I fangirled like crazy over The Cruel Prince. I think it was my top book of 2018. Something about it just spoke to me – probably because I too, am a ruthless human who’s pretending she’s not in love with a mean faerie prince. But that’s neither here nor there. The real news is: the sequel comes out next month. As a hot-shot book reviewer, I’ve already read it and it’s to die for. Jude and Cardan can still banter like no one’s business, and the twists and turns of Faerie will make your head spin. I’m already planning a reread of both books just so I can bask in their glow again. You need to have this on your TBR.
The Wicked King comes out January 8, 2019. That’s so soon, guys. Pre-Order it here!
King of Scars
It’s been a thousand years since Crooked Kingdom came out (ok, two, but still…) and it’s about time we had another Bardugo Special. We can finally sink back into the Grishaverse. This time from the perspective of Nikolai Lantsov himself. And it sounds like it’s going to be dark. Which makes sense considering what happened to him in previous books.
I don’t know about you, but I will definitely need a reread of both The Grishaverse trilogy and Six of Crows in order to fully immerse myself in this world again. I definitely didn’t just spend a half hour reading a fan wiki about Nikolai…
King of Scars comes out January 29, 2019. Pre-Order it here!
Serious Moonlight
I’m intrigued by this book. Not only is the title a David Bowie lyric, but the plot summary just sounds like what I wanted my life to be like as an awkward teen.
Birdie works the night shift at a Seattle hotel frequented by a reclusive famous author. She befriends Daniel (we all know where that’s headed…) to discover the mystery of who this author is and what he’s doing at the hotel. Mystery and teenage love all in one book? Yes, please.
The characters sound quirky and nothing strengthens a romance like some sleuthing.
Serious Moonlight comes out April 16, 2019. Pre-Order it here!
The Bride Test
You might remember how we all fawned over The Kiss Quotient. It even made it onto our best books of 2018 list. It was a story that had everything – depth, representation, some sizzling hot sex scenes, and two very lovable characters. And I expect nothing less from The Bride Test. Again she’s using diverse characters – this time our male lead, Khai, has autism, and our leading lady, Esme is mixed-race from Vietnam.
I predict lots of social blunders, cute moments, and fingers crossed, some scenes that get your lady parts tingling. Mark this one as a Boozy Book Club read – we have to after we all loved The Kiss Quotient so much!
The Bride Test comes out May 7, 2019. Pre-Order it here!
Sorcery of Thorns
Sorcery? Magical Libraries? Monsters made of ink and leather? Teaming up with a sworn enemy? Sign me the F up. This book sounds like perfection. The only thing that seems to be wrong with it is that it’s a standalone book because I can already tell I’m going to devour this.
I haven’t read anything by Margaret Rogerson before, but after coming across this book, I’m very interested in checking out her previous book, An Enchantment of Ravens. It’s giving me an ACOTAR vibe, and ain’t nothing wrong with that. Hopefully, it will tide me over until this book comes out NEXT JUNE. I don’t want to wish away my youth, but if I was going to it would be for books.
Sorcery of Thorns comes out June 4, 2019. Pre-Order it here!
Wayward Son
Apparently, 2019 is actually going to be 20gayteen, according to the youths of Goodreads. I don’t know much about this phenomenon, except that we’re getting a sequel to Carry On in 2019, therefore, we must praise the gods of representation! This is all we know about this book so far: “Sequel to Carry On; the story of Simon and Baz continues in Wayward Son!! Blurb to come!!” There’s not even a page for it on Amazon yet. There’s not even a real cover.
Ugh, way to leave us hanging, Rainbow! Despite all this, it should go on your TBR immediately.
No preorder, but add it on Goodreads here.
Phew, I’m all worked up now. I want to get my hands on these books now, but even a book reviewer like me has to wait sometimes.
