DIAMONDS Y’ALL. How kismet. So what can you do to mark this sacred day? I have a few potential ideas.
The obvious
Watch it the movie again, especially if it’s been a while. You’ll probably be able to recite it as you go. There’s even a new edition commemorating the anniversary with some new features and cover art if you’re a bit of a collector. Host a viewing party, it’ll be fun! I even know exactly what you can serve…
Shroom it up
I still think of Twilight every time I see mushroom ravioli on a menu. I even ordered it somewhere a few weeks ago because I was wavering between a few options and since everything seems to go back to Twilight (#EGBTT!) I figured my hands were tied.
Use up all the storage on your phone
You probably still have a few reaction gifs saved for the perfect moment, but now is the perfect time to add a few more if you’ve filtered some out over the years. And there are plenty to choose from.
Be the delight of your group chat by adding as many blue filtered reactions as you can possibly get away with.
Dig out those novelty tees
I’m not all that conscientious about weeding out my clothes so I still have a few of these lying around, and I doubt I’m alone. I even came across a “Stupid Lamb” shirt not long ago and wondered that if I wore it today if the average person would still remember what it’s in reference to. I should try it, if only to share knowing glances with fellow Twilight fans out in the wild.
Apply that highlighter with a heavy hand
I still hear jokes about vampires sparkling, and I still don’t get them. It’s not something people are obligated to like, but insisting that a feature of a mythical being is “unrealistic” is madness. Everything is a miserable disaster, embrace some shimmer and go out into the world like a Cullen.
Listen to Flightless Bird, American Mouth and cry
It’s been noted many times that even people who hated Twilight (remember when that was a thing people were proud of because they thought it made them cool?) had to begrudgingly admit that the movie soundtracks are killer. Remember when we all lost our minds over Robert Pattinson’s contribution. Almost half of “Never Think” is an acoustic guitar solo and we didn’t care. But for me Iron & Wine’s “Flightless Bird, American Mouth” is THE song on this soundtrack. I don’t think there’s a single time I’ve been able to listen to it without getting a little teary.
Wear a stylish scarf
For Carlisle, obvs.
Reread Midnight Sun
Rereading Twilight seems like the more obvious choice, and by all means do that too. But for me, the obsession with getting to read Edward’s version of events and the absolute implosion when Stephenie Meyer threw it up on her website because it had been leaked is quintessential of the fandom. Robert Pattinson briefly thought he had accidentally leaked it, some fans vowed to never read it in its unfinished form, and the fans that did read it were horrified to discover that it ended right before the meadow scene. Those were truly the days.
