If you didn’t read Dumplin’, I urge you to go to your library and snag it right now. It’s a quick read, and it’s so empowering. Especially if you’re a chubby girl. Even if you’re not, I know everyone can relate to having an aspect of yourself that you’re not totally happy with and working to overcome that. Whether it’s your weight, your crooked teeth, your wonky eye, your chicken legs – we all have something. And it gets to a point where you have to tell yourself and everyone else, f*&% that noise! I like myself, and I don’t really care if you agree or not. THAT’S what Dumplin’ is about.
This trailer made me smile, tear up, get Dolly Parton stuck in my head for the rest of the day, and most importantly, tally up the days until December 7th (to save you the time: 23).
Here are some thoughts I had while watching the trailer:
- Dumplin’ is set in Texas if that wasn’t clear by Jennifer Aniston’s fake accent (I have no idea if it’s good or not – I’m from Connecticut. Someone from down South: go ahead and chime in if she’s doing you justice).
- 9 to 5 is a BOP.
- Oh damn, Bo. You make a fast food uniform look good.
- I kind of love Jennifer Aniston as a pageant queen…
- Seems like they’re making her nicer than she was in the book…
- And I want that silk robe.
- That’s how I walk in heels too!
- My sweet, sweet Puddin’! She better get her own movie.
- Great casting for the girl who plays Hannah – the new April Ludgate.
- Yes! The drag scene! They’re including it. I would riot if they left that out.
- Bo, I think you’re beautiful too…but you’re looking a little…old.
- Be a diamond in a rhinestone world – don’t mind if I do.
- No, I’m not tearing up, you’re tearing up!
- Blame it on the Dolly Parton.
- Yassss! Danielle Macdonald is killing it! She is perfect for my Willowdean. Cute, spunky, and channeling our Lord and Savior Dolly Parton with that big blonde hair.
- I’m going to be singing Dolly Parton all day. Not a problem.
- Does Dolly Parton make a cameo? She has to, right?
- Jolene better be on this soundtrack.
- Thank God I upgraded my Netflix because I plan to watch this on repeat and I will NOT be interrupted by my parents watching Frontier or some s*&^ like that again!
- December 7th better come quick.
If you didn’t watch this trailer and feel pure joy, you need to listen to some more Dolly Parton. It will be a good introduction to the Dumplin’ lifestyle.
