Bucky Barnes & Sam Wilson Might be Coming to a TV Near You!

in Marvel on 11/01/18 by Megan Cox Leave a Comment

That high pitched squeal that you heard at approximately 8:30 PM EST Tuesday, October 30 would have been me. My condolences to your ears.

Variety is reporting that a Winter Soldier and Falcon limited series is in the works for Disney’s new streaming service. Malcolm Spellman, writer of Empire, is attached to write the series featuring Steve Rogers’ best buddies, who may or may not hate each other. Oh, what fun they’ll have!

Further details on the series, at this juncture, are non-existent.

Quite frankly, I think that they would be remiss to essentially not give us something like a buddy cop comedy with these two. They’re perfect for it! Especially considering how fantastically they play off one another on-screen. And their off-screen friendship is apparent as well.

How do I apply for that job?

While Bucky and Sam haven’t had a whole lot of on-screen time together yet, their relationship in the Marvel comics is long and storied, so there will be lots of material to pull from. Even if it’s just for inspiration and Marvel decides to go with something completely new.

Where in the Marvel timeline this series will take place is anyone’s guess at this point. Though I suspect it will be post-Avengers 4. Whether or not these means we’re not getting Bucky Cap, who’s to say? Maybe the series will be leading up to Bucky taking up the mantle? Hell, maybe Sam will take it up. MAYBE THEY’LL BOTH BE CAP. Whatever happens, I’m still holding out hope for scenes such as this on screen.

I had no interest in this Disney streaming service until now oddly enough. Funny how that works. Variety had also reported in September that Loki and Scarlet Witch would be getting a series. And with Netflix having recently cancelled both Iron Fist and Luke Cage, there has been speculation that those shows might end up over on Disney as well.

Details of the streaming service have been kept pretty quiet. All we know is that it will launch some time in 2019 and cost less than Netflix. and quite frankly, I’d be willing to pay that for some Winter Soldier and Falcon action alone.

Can we get a mic drop, Anthony?

Excited for the possibility of Bucky and Sam on screen together for a limited series run? We know we are! Fan out with us in the comment section!
