**Spoilers**
Langdon’s Interviews
In the beginning of this episode, we find out that Langdon is the reason Emily and Timothy were saved from being executed by Venable and Meade. That Langdon is either covering for Gallant or actually killed Evie. That Dinah is FINALLY interesting and possibly a witch, oh and that her son is Andre, which I am not so sure that was a secret. I might have missed that nugget of info. My bad.
During the interview process, we have several cut-aways of Michael speaking with a bunch of people, but the two I wanted to hear from were Mallory and Dinah. Mallory was even better because DAMN – what is she? A witch? An archangel (I saw that random theory on Facebook). She mentions that she feels like there’s someone inside of her clawing to get out. Langdon makes a very interesting confession when he said he thought he had “killed all of you.” When he tried to stop Mallory from leaving the room, she uses some sort of power to throw him back and destroy most of the room. He wasn’t a fan of that.
Let’s see a close up of Langdon’s face there.
Yeah. Gross.
Mad About Meade
I love the character arc that Meade is taking. We get to hear her back story, how she grew up (funny that she made herself a robot costume for Halloween), how she became a spy and her first kill. It was when she was talking about how confused she was because she remembered feeling love for a blonde child but couldn’t picture his face that I started thinking she had a strong connection to Langdon.
So, I have to say this, but I was RIGHT! She IS a robot (duh) and she didn’t know it until she was shot. Also, when she told Venable that she was programmed to be loyal to her and she had no doubt about that, I began having more questions about who programmed her to begin with.
During her heart to heart with Venable, Meade comes up with the idea to kill everyone, even Langdon, steal his laptop and take themselves to Langdon’s Sanctuary. Meade also promises Venable that she is programmed to be loyal to her.
BROCK IS BACK!
So, this isn’t fair of me because I kind of suspected hardcore that Brock would be back in the guise of a canker-pus-monster bent on getting back at Coco. Why did I have that suspicion? Because I saw a video on youtube that showed someone hanging onto the underneath of a carriage that was clearly suffering from radiation poisoning.
So yeah, I had my own closely held theory there. Glad to see Brock back.
So, underneath that carriage was mutant Brock, but inside that carriage was nobody. Weird, right? I thought so, until Meade and Fist (yes, I had to look that up. I’ve been mentally calling her Amazon Eve from Freakshow this whole time), took out the container that held…perfect apples. Perfect Red Delicious apples.
This is where I call BS on this whole show. I can believe everything else they’ve thrown at me, Murder House, Hotel, even Cult. BUT a perfectly crisp Red Delicious apple? Nah. No way. If my Wegman’s can’t bring me a non-mushy Red Delicious, I seriously am calling into question a horse-drawn carriage in the middle of the Apocalypse that can do it.
This Is Why I Don’t Bob For Apples
So, Venable and Meade come up with this plan to poison the apples and give them to everyone inside of Outpost Three. Meade states that they need to make sure that everyone eats the apples all at once to ensure that everyone gets poisoned. Am I the only one who was instantly reminded of Kathy Bates’ Butcher role there?
Anyway, Venable says she’ll handle that part and boom a Halloween party is planned and bobbing for apples is on the agenda (shout out to a Murder House reference). The only stipulation? They have to wait until Venable says to eat the apples.
While everyone is at the party, Coco takes who she thinks is Langdon up to her room. Turns out, it’s Brock and he’s still SUPER pissed he was left in Santa Monica. So much so that he stabs her in the forehead and kills her.
That gif never gets old.
While Brock is busy murdering Coco, the party downstairs begins to eat their apples. And die. They all die. I thought for sure Langdon was going to step in and stop them, but no. Vomiting, bleeding from the mouth & eyes, and death quickly happens.
Suprise Bitch!
Those missing from the party are Coco and Langdon. Venable and Meade go up to Langdon’s room and plan to shoot him. Their plan quickly backfires when Meade shoots Venable. Plot twist, am I right?
Langdon had Meade made and has always been the one programming her/giving her orders, she just didn’t know that. She didn’t even know she was a robot. Per Langdon, the “real” Meade was a caregiver of his that he cared very deeply for and that’s why he wanted to have a robot Meade. The blonde kid that Meade remembers loving is in fact Michael Langdon.
Not sure about the timeline here, if Meade and Langdon are still upstairs, or if they’ve left for Sanctuary, but enter COVEN! Ryan Murphy said we were going to get witches in this episode and I was beginning to think the witches we were going to get were Mallory and Dinah (although who is a witch and who isn’t is still in question).
Happily, we got Cordelia, Madison, and Myrtle. Cordelia tells them to “find our sisters” and then we see dead Coco, Dinah, and Mallory get lined up and brought back to life.
So, the Coven brings back their “sisters” and that’s when we get a whole ‘nother set of questions:
The first of which, how are Madison and Myrtle alive? Unless, it really is Halloween and so their spirits are back to walk the earth? Presuming of course, that ghosts are still able to do so after the apocalypse? Could you imagine being a ghost and coming back for the night? Super stoked to have a night a freedom and then seeing that everything got blown up. Yikes.
But secondly, why/how does Madison know Mallory?
One theory is that Fiona’s soul (Jessica Langdon’s character from Coven) is inside Mallory. Good theory but we found out in Coven that Fiona doesn’t have a soul.
This episode was amazing. My husband is irritated with “the amount of holes that are left open.” As this is his first season of AHS, I tried not to laugh too hard.
My Questions
Is Dinah a witch? Is Mallory?
If Mallory isn’t a witch, what the hell is she/what is inside of her?
Is that it for Gallant/Andre/Timothy/Emily? Why would the Cooperative go out of their way to save Timothy and Emily if Langdon was just going to kill them anyway? Is Langdon working on his own here?
How is Myrtle and Madison alive? Is it because it really is Halloween? Seems like a hell of a coincidence that it actually is Halloween if that’s the case.
How does Madison know Mallory?
