Brave the New Tagline
“BRAVE THE NEW WORLD,” INDEED. Sirs and madams, I am for this. This is far better than “THE KILT DROPS IN SEPTEMBER,” which, if you recall, made us all want to forbid STARZ from wearing tartan forever. But here we have a tag line that tells a story, man. A tag line that says Jamie and Claire will take no colonial shit from anyone. I love it. I love Jamie giving me Henry Hudson/Samuel de Champlain vibes whilst holding tight to the hand of his woman who is … YOU GUESSED IT … leading the way, no fear here. YES, QUEEN.
But that backdrop
Let’s discuss the new world itself here. Grey and ominous, rocky outcroppings and FRASER FIRS, AMIRITE? North Carolina (or South or wherever they are supposed to be) is looking treacherous and beautiful. If they are looking out over what will become Fraser’s Ridge I cannot help but marvel at its magnificence. America, you beaut.
Bangs, begone!
The real reason we are in love with every single pixel of this digital image: THOSE TWO LOOK AMAZING. Claire looks strong and sufficient to the task in her ragtag, thrown together, best for the business at hand couture. Her hair is radiant and flowing, and I don’t care if that is a wig, it is the exact wig I am here for. I could easily do without the greying over-sprayed, bad hairline one we have seen in other promo shots from the season, but this is fabulous. Glow up, Claire. GLOW UP.
And Jamie. LORD, JAMIE. This promo shot gave me all the memories from the VERY FIRST look we ever got of Sam as Jamie from Season 1. There was excitement. There was adrenaline. There was complete surprise that Sam WAS Jamie in that still shot. We were – and ARE – beside ourselves. Jamie has GROWN INTO this look, and it is glorious.
Let’s talk about him wearing that Black Brian jacket with some new world wearable furs, and carrying that musket like it was molded to his arm. He is ferocious like this. I LOVE IT, and I don’t need a kilt or even … A TRICORN. At least, not when his hair looks that good.
That’s right, loves. NO BANGS HERE. I feel like the promo department is trolling us good critics of all thing wigs, because we’ve SEEN season 4 stills – whether pap shots or otherwise – and Jamie’s hair is terrible in those. So HOW is it looking so SAM here??? So right, so good. Even the most staunch Outlander critics are Wigging Outlander over this shot. THIS IS THE JAMIE WE DESERVE.
