Ace Comic-Con – Seattle, Washington
There’s about a billion and one Cons that cover just about everything, but after Patricia and Bri went to Ace in June, it was suddenly very on our radar. Maybe that has something to do with a certain Mr Hiddleston’s presence or… ok, there’s no OR, but it looked really fun and Tom looked great, so GO!

Anime Expo – Los Angeles, CA
Anime Expo happens in early July every year in downtown Los Angeles. I know this because during that time it’s impossible to wander through Little Tokyo without wondering whether you fell into an alternate universe where Harajuku girls run wild on the streets along side Sailor Moons and Gokus and characters I have NO idea the names of. The commitment (and sweat) involved in this costumes is something to behold. If Anime is your thing, than Anime Expo is for you… or it’s at least for looky-loo-ing!

San Diego Comic-con – San Diego, California
There may be a million Cons in ever city but San Diego Comic-con is THE Con to be at. It’s the mother ship, it’s Mecca, it’s ground zero for all things pop culture, entertainment, and duh… comics! The TN team has been going on a yearly pilgrimage to SDCC for almost a decade and you can read ALL our past coverage HERE or search the hashtag #TNSDCC on every social media outlet for me.
Tickets go on sale in the fall of every year and is a massive cluster. Hotels go on sale in the spring and it’s a massive cluster. But I guess the mother of all cons is worth a little bit of a cluster???
JKJK it’s not. ONPEAK and SDCC FIX YO SHIT!

DragonCon – Atlanta, Georgia
DragonCon usually happens over Labor Day in the US and is a massive draw for the cosplayers and pop culture fans alike. Our pal Natasha (you might remember her coverage of the Outlander Costume at Macy’s for us, and her amazing cosplays!) says this is her FAVORITE CON and plans months and months in advance. She even recently went on an international trip and took a costume to work on during her vacation. So clearly, DragonCon attendees are COMMITTED.

Forever Twilight in Forks – Forks, Washington
Cause Everything Goes Back to Twilight (#EGBTT), the summer nerd season isn’t complete for people like us without the Forever Twilight in Forks Festival in Forks, Washington in September. Yes, you can celebrate Twilight with fellow Twi-fans IN the town the stories are set in. You wanna stay at the Cullen House? No prob, it’s called The Miller Tree Inn, wanna see the Thriftway where Bella bought ingredients for Charlie’s enchiladas? Yea, it’s right on the main street through town. The FTF Festival has themed events from the prom, to Bella’s birthday, 5k Runs (chase the Volturi outta town!) and so much more. If you happen through Forks during another time of year, you can still experience the Twilight love by visiting the Forever Twilight in Forks Collection, a gallery of the largest collections of Twilight props and memorabilia in the world!
Tickets go on sale every spring. More info can be found here!

Live Film Soundtracks with Orchestra – check your local events
One of my favorite summer events over the past few years has been the Film Soundtracks performed with live Orchestras while the movie plays! I’ve seen quite a few at the Hollywood Bowl from Harry Potter to Jaws to the upcoming Star Wars! While a concert like this is a very special event at the Hollywood Bowl because of the possibility of people like John Williams showing up to guest conduct, I know this happens in other major cities with Orchestras. Check your local event pages and pack a picnic for a one-of-a-kind nerd event!
