The Collar of Love
I cannot tell you how happy I am that Diana’s love life is getting more attention this season. Sure, we’ve seen a few hookups over the years, but the Italian plumber from the wrong side of the tracks is giving me life! She’s accepted his blue-collar upbringing, so far, but how will Diana cope with mommy dearest in the house? They get off to a rough start when his mother insults Diana’s age in Italian. She won’t be getting any grandbabies from that shriveled grape! Diana wins some points back when, shocker, she speaks Italian, too! However this love story unfolds, I am here for it! #teamplumber
P.S. Diana’s Baby Jessica reference gave me the warm fuzzies. I was only 3 years old when little Jessica McClure fell in her aunt’s well, but it left an impression. I vividly remember my concern for her well-being and my elation when she was saved. It was the “soccer team trapped in the cave” of 1987.
How Do You Like Your Ice Cream?
Kelsey will take hers double-dipped. It’s nice to see a woman playing the field, but I don’t see her winning this game. Her feelings for Jake are clouding how Kelsey handles his “snoozefest” first chapter, but Zane’s jealousy-fueled, heavy-handed approach won’t do them any favors either. The big question here is who will she choose? what is the deal with Jake’s writing? Obama’s former speechwriter is bound to have some good stories to share. Is it a simple case of writer’s block or is something bigger going on here?
How BOOCH-ya Stay Awhile?
Now, the moment we’ve all been waiting for! Thanks to some homemade kombucha, compliments of fictional rock legend Chrissie Hart (Gina Gershon), Charles and Liza get drunk on Shutter, I mean, Shelter Island. How adorable was drunk Charles? That laugh! BUT WHY DIDN’T HE KNOCK ON THE DOOR?!?!?! Instead, he runs away. And, you know what? As ready as I am for Charles to get over himself and forgive Liza, it was so worth it to see her big win. That look on her face when she dropped that book on his desk (like a mic!) as she says, “I didn’t run away” is everything! If that doesn’t wake him up, I don’t know what will!
Side Notes:
- For those that missed this nod to music history, “Just Kids” was written by singer-songwriter Patti Smith. You may recognize her song “Because the Night,” co-written with Bruce Springsteen.
- Cheers to Maggie finally seeing some success! I’m only a tad disappointed that we didn’t get a more explosive meeting with her and Diana.
