- I’ve been day drinking.
- There is a big sale.
- I’ve been day drinking and there is a big sale.
The Nordstrom Anniversary sale is their best discount event of the year, and if you have read any of my fashun-y fashion posts, you will see I am a loyal Nordstrom customer. I love the Nordstrom experience, they dropped Ivanka Trump from their stores, and they sell wine at their cafe.
- Excellent customer serve
- Doesn’t sell feckless “designers”
- Booze
I don’t care that much about brand ambassadors or #spon, but Nordstrom clearly had me in mind when they picked Daniel Levy to be one of the faces (spokesmodels?) of the 2018 Anniversary Sale. Daniel Levy is my best friend (in my mind), and he’s my favorite person from my favorite TV show, Schitt’s Creek.
EW, DAVID!
Considering his character, David Rose, is a former Blouse Barn sales associate, Levy is the perfect face for Nordstrom. And those eyebrows don’t hurt, either.
Nordstrom and Daniel Levy…two great tastes that taste great together. My new dream is to day drink and shop with Daniel. We’d sip rosé, dish about things we love (frozen french fries) and things we hate (day lilies), and then head off to hit the racks where Daniel would style me into my best self. “Be best, Amy,” he would say.
Daniel shares ones of his favorite fashion buys:
Growing up, I always had an appreciation of fashion. I just never had the access to it. Any special purchases required months of saving from my video-store job. When I got my first big job as a VJ at MTV, I went a little off the rails with our clothing allowance (one of the best perks a job can offer). I took a trip to New York City to celebrate and told myself that I would buy something special. I walked into the Rick Owens store and tried on a leather jacket that fit me like a glove. The only holdup was the price. It was heart stopping—I had to take a lunch break to think about it.
I couldn’t afford it, but there was something about the way it fit and the way it made me feel that compelled me to eventually swipe my credit card and pay it off over several months. I still wear it to this day! In fact, it means so much to me that I chose to wear it in the very first episode of Schitt’s Creek. I always find my most irrational fashion decisions are the ones I’m most proud of later.
So relateable. I have a closet full of proud (and pocket book ruining) fashion decisions.
The Sale…Gimme
Nordstrom is paying Daniel to entice me about the sale, and that investment is paying off. I have flipped through the preview catalog and already found several things I want. Enjoy my pretend shopping excursion with Daniel.
Nordstrom Prtin Long Silk Kimono, Sale price $98.90 Daniel says you can never have too many kimonos or caftans. Mrs. Roper life is the best life.
Vince Camuto Smocked Neck Blouse, Sale price $58.90 Daniel says this is a blouse Elizabeth Jennings from The Americans would wear. “Buy it, comrade.”
Topshop Stripe Jumpsuit, Sale Price $79.90 Daniel encourages jumpsuits and full nudity while taking a tinkle.
Nike Sportswear Windrunner Jacket, Sale price $74.90 Daniel believes all hoodies should remind you of a robe you stole from a hotel in South Beach.
Lewit Marta Slingback Pump, Sale price $164.90 Daniel feels these pumps have a 1983 vibe, the year he was born (he was convceived in 1982).
Halogen Detachable Sleeve Sweater, Sale price $78.90 Daniel says this makes me look like an uptight leprechaun/librarian.
Elomi ‘Matilda’ Underwire Plunge Bra, Sale price $45.90 Daniel thinks all bras should have a surprise element to them. Surprise! Boobs! And surprise! Candy dots!
Nordstorm Signature Cable Cashmere Sweater, Sale price $219.90 Daniel asks if the designer is Outback Red.
Cole Haan GrandPro Spectator Scalloped Slip-on Sneaker, Sale price $99.90 Daniel says, “Buy these, you basic bitch! I know you want ’em.”
The great thing about the Nordstrom sale is there is new merch, including must-haves for Fall. It’s not markdowns of old stuff, and the products I found in the catalog will be available once the sale begins. Designers include Madewell, Tom Ford, Free People, J Crew, and Rebecca Minkoff. All good things.
Come on, Daniel! Let’s go!
