Read This Now: Nyxia Unleashed by Scott Reintgen

in Books on 07/17/18 by Brooke Leave a Comment

In celebration of all things ComicCon, it’s time to read SciFi and let out your inner nerd. I’m sure it isn’t a coincidence that the sequel to Nyxia drops today. Debut novel, Nyxia made my top five YA books in 2017, so my expectations were high. A YA SciFi that even your boyfriend will want to read, Nyxia Unleashed by Scott Reintgen didn’t disappoint.

About Nyxia Unleashed

Don’t let the terrible title fool you, Nyxia Unleashed is as entertaining and surprising as the first book. The second book in the trilogy, Nyxia Unleashed takes off where Nyxia ended. The mining team crashes onto the Adamite planet and the team must figure out how to work together if they want to survive. This, of course, will prove even more difficult for Emmett since Isadora, bitter from losing Roathy, has sworn to kill Emmett if the planet doesn’t kill him first. The team is determined to mine their quota and get off the planet ASAP. But Babel Communications has other intentions.

Delighted to see the teens, the Adamites allow the team to mine the Nyxia but only under a watchful eye. They’re almost a little too keen to have the teens there, which makes Morning and Emmett suspicious of the deal Babel cut with the Adamites since everything else Babel has promised has been a lie.

Want a refresher on Nyxia, watch Scott Reintgen recap Nyxia:

Why I loved Nyxia Unleashed

Being on-planet is treacherous. Reintgen does an excellent job of world building. The planet is imaginative and surprising. From the different creatures to the Adamite settlements, Reintgen creates an adventurous landscape.

The camaraderie between the mining team is endearing. Of course, I love Morning and Emmett but there were other characters like Katzu and Anton that each brought their own personalities to the group in their fight against Babel. By the end of the book, they truly have each other’s backs.

Emmett is a solid role model. True to himself and the upbringing of his parents, Emmett embodies a better version of humanity. If only we could follow his example of treating others with more respect and kindness regardless of social class or color.

The twists are jaw dropping. Reintgen weaves a clever tale. And then the end, I won’t spoil it, but yeah, I’m ready for the third book like right now!

I would recommend this book and series to anyone who enjoys SciFi. Fans of Pierce Brown’s Red Rising series would love this. Scott Reintgen is a huge fan of the Red Rising series and admitted it definitely influenced Nyxia. This isn’t a romance but definitely a book you can read and discuss with a significant other. You can buy Nyxia Unleashed on Amazon now.

Still haven’t read Nyxia? For shame. But you’re in luck, the e-book is on sale for $1.99 right now! That’s a super deal people! Need more convincing? Check out Scott Reintgen’s website: It’s pronounced Rankin. Got twenty minutes to listen to the first chapter of Nyxia? Listen to audio chapter.

Have you read Nyxia? Are you as excited about this series as I am? Let me know in the comments.
