The End of The Tour
Pauline Womans Up
Think way, way back to last week’s episode. I have some things I need to talk about! The first being Pauling going full beast-mode. It was about time someone took Charles down a peg. He’s been sitting pretty on the moral high-ground for far too long. He’s not as perfect as he likes to think. It’s easy to blame Pauline for their marriage falling apart. She is the one who took off, leaving Charles and their children to chase her dreams. Who does that? But Charles is lying to himself if he thinks that is really how it happened. She became the wife he needed her to be so he could pursue his dreams, and it was her turn to do something for herself. How does he return the favor when she wants to time to do her own thing? Falling for his “twenty-something” employee. How does he react when Pauline confronts him with the truth? Takes it out on Liza. Real smooth Charlie boy.
Magicians Crossover?
Worlds collide! Who is that I spy making a guest appearance from one of my other favorite shows? Jason Ralph, who plays Quentin Coldwater on The Magicians, drops in to stir up drama between Kelsey and Zane, creating a fun little love triangle. I didn’t know this was the crossover I needed, but here it is! He says he wants to work with both Empirical and Millenial to publish his book following his career as Obama’s speechwriter, but is he only interested in working with Kelsey because they matched on that celebrity dating app? It is sure to drive a wedge in Kelsey and Zane’s budding romance, or are the pair in more of a friends-with-benefits situation anyway?
Sidebar for my fellow Magicians fans, wouldn’t it be fun if THIS was the new identity Quentin was given at the end of last season after the memory wipe spell?!?! WHAT?!
The Talented Mr. Ridley
The Porkchop Theif
As if the #TeamCharles, #TeamJosh battle weren’t enough, do I have any #TeamDons in the crowd? Everything Charles did this episode was designed to make me despise him, and I bet I’m not alone. I’m not going down with the Charles ship! Sure, Don is broke and living off party scraps, but I can see why Liza will find herself drawn in by him. They are both survivors in a new world, trying to maintain careers in publishing and journalism in a time of Amazon and click-bait. Perhaps some competition will inspire Charles to remove his head from his sphincter? I wouldn’t be surprised in Don isn’t as phased by Liza’s secret, but I could also see a struggling journalist seeing her truth as a major opportunity.
Cleaning the Pipes
I could start a whole new blog on Diana moments alone. Her face, when she gets picked up in that work van, gave me life! I would ride in just about anything to eat at that Italian restaurant. Could Diana be turning a new cheek? She’s so petty but in the best possible way. I hope she gives the plumber a real chance this time.
Speaking of new beginnings, I’m interested to see where things go with Josh and the dog girl. Is he finally moving on or still on the rebound?
