First here’s a real quick synopsis for you…
On the heels of their six-time Academy Award®-winning smash, La La Land, Oscar®-winning director Damien Chazelle and star Ryan Gosling reteam for Universal Pictures’ First Man, the riveting story of NASA’s mission to land a man on the moon, focusing on Neil Armstrong and the years 1961-1969. A visceral, first-person account, based on the book by James R. Hansen, the movie will explore the sacrifices and the cost—on Armstrong and on the nation—of one of the most dangerous missions in history.
Written by Academy Award® winner Josh Singer (Spotlight), the drama is produced by Wyck Godfrey & Marty Bowen (The Twilight Saga,The Fault in Our Stars) through their Temple Hill Entertainment banner, alongside Chazelle and Gosling. Isaac Klausner (The Fault in Our Stars) executive produces. DreamWorks Pictures co-finances the film.
Also starring: Ryan Gosling, Claire Foy, Jason Clarke, Kyle Chandler, Patrick Fugit, Ciaran Hinds, Ethan Embry, Shea Whigham, Corey Stoll, Pablo Schreiber
Did you see all those names I saw? Yup, me too. Let’s play a game of six degrees of all the things Nikki loves, shall we?
Ryan Gosling
Duh.
Do I really need to say more here other than he looks phenomenal in this? His team is working their ass off to get him that Oscar.
.
Wyck and Marty from Temple Hill Producing
When Twilight is the first credit listed after your name, I – a. probably “know” you very well b. will probably support your endeavors because I either work in conjunction with you, or I just want you to succeed. Cause anyone who’s Team Twilight is a friend of mine… probably.
.
Coach Taylor
Oh Kyle Chandler’s in it? Where do I buy the pre-sale tickets? All I know is he better give Neil Armstrong an unforgettable halftime speech in space.
.
Queen Elizabeth aka Claire Foy
Ok, we have Ryan Gosling with Claire Foy as the love interest, if Ryan and Twilight and Coach didn’t already sell me a ticket, then I would buy one from Claire, so instead I’m gonna write a real quick fanfic on the meeting of these two actors and how the smoldering and longing glances and puppy dog eyes might kill me.
.
Patrick Fugit
Patrick Fugit, though not even in the trailer that I can see stars in my favorite movie ever, Almost Famous. So yea, I’m there. Also Patrick looks great in period wardrobe and hair, so good call team.
.
Ethan Embry
Ethan is also not in the trailer that I can see (might be in that scene in the shuttle?) but Ethan is in my second favorite film, Can’t Hardly Wait. I’ve been hoping he would land back in movies and this makes me excited to see who he will play.
.
Fruit Salad of Awesome
Throw in director Damien Chazelle, whoever the cinematographer is (damn, it’s pretty!), Ciaran Hind, AND Pablo Schreiber and this movie is packed to the gils with talent. I also saw Jason Clarke in the trailer, Christopher Abbott on the IMDB page so yea, this is a weird mixture of all my favorite filmmakers and actors and it’s weirding me out now.
.
No release date other than “Coming Soon” but I’m betting if it’s good, they’ll bring it out in the Fall just in time for Awards Season races.
