With an opening weekend of about $125 million all the f-bombs and creative decapitations are working for the Marvel franchise.
Summary
Despite personal issues (I will try to keep this spoiler free), Deadpool must save this guy,
Russell/Fire Fist, played by Julian Dennison, from this guy,
Josh Brolin as Cable, with the help of a new team Deadpool recruits and names X-Force.
The stand out new team member is Domino (Zazie Beetz) who’s super power is luck. For real.
Her unique power, badassery and fantastic aesthetic prime her to play a central role in the upcoming X-Force film. X-Force has been in and out of development since 2013, but the success of the Deadpool franchise has lit a fire under the project and a new script is in the works.
Other Notable Elements
Deadpool is once again joined by his lady love Vanessa (Morena Baccarin), cabbie Dopinder (Karan Soni), Colossus (Stefan Kapicic) and Negasonic Teenage Warhead (Brianna Hildabrand) who gets a girlfriend. I ship it.
Two “blink and you’ll miss it” cameos from A list celebs add an extra bit of hilarity. Be sure to stay for the extra scenes half way through the end credits (there is no final stinger at the end.)
What Marvel fans may object to is a small but kind of important (tiny spoiler here guys) time travel element. It has been all over the Marvel Universe recently. Agents of Shield, Avengers: Infinity War and Deadpool 2 have all used time travel as a plot device this year.
Despite that small somewhat irritating element, Deadpool 2 is unapologetic, frantic, fun. Leave the kids at home and enjoy the madness.
