The Last Namsara by Kristen Ciccarelli
We admit, most of the club didn’t get to this book this month so the conversation was not as eventful as we like, but sometimes that happens. We did agree that the dragons in this world are better than dragons in other worlds because they were actual characters in the book, not just pets.
I loved them!! I loved that they loved hearing AND telling the old stories, and that they were intelligent and loyal and not just bloodthirsty brutes. I needed more Kozu!! –Janna
I loved the dragons. I share my home with two dogs and six cats. Most of the time, I like four legged creatures better than the two legged ones. –Beth
Every books should have dragons IMO –Emily
Those that did get around to reading this book rated it, out of five:
Emergency Contact by Mary H.K. Choi
We really liked this one, it definitely had the most conversation flowing. The slow burn love hit all the right points for the fans of the genre!
One of the best questions about Emergency Contact asked us who our emergency contacts are:
My older sister. I want to be her when I grow up. –Mary Beth
Sometimes The Mr. is my person, if I need a solution. But if I just need to talk and think and complain, my people are friends made in my LiveJournal fandom days. –Kimberly
My husband and my mom for different situations. My husband is very logical which can be good or bad depending on what I need and my mom is more like me, very emotional, so they each provide something different. –Megan
At the time of writing this, there were seven people that said it was their S.O., six people said their besties, five said a sibling, and five said a parent. We are all so loved!
Out of 5 bottles, we rated Emergency Contact:
But, wait! You forgot to let us vote for June!
I had a really hard time finishing these books. Not because I didn’t like them, but because summers are SO busy. And it is only May! And I wasn’t the only one that was behind this month.
So we made an executive decision.
For June, we are only officially* reading one book because life.
We had a few book reviewers get Advanced Reader Copies of The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang and they were all gushing about it. Comparisons to The Hating Game were made, y’all. Someone threw out the idea of doing it for BBC, and here we are!
A heartwarming and refreshing debut novel that proves one thing: there’s not enough data in the world to predict what will make your heart tick.
Stella Lane thinks math is the only thing that unites the universe. She comes up with algorithms to predict customer purchases–a job that has given her more money than she knows what to do with, and way less experience in the dating department than the average thirty-year-old.
It doesn’t help that Stella has Asperger’s and French kissing reminds her of a shark getting its teeth cleaned by pilot fish. Her conclusion: she needs lots of practice–with a professional. Which is why she hires escort Michael Phan. The Vietnamese and Swedish stunner can’t afford to turn down Stella’s offer, and agrees to help her check off all the boxes on her lesson plan–from foreplay to more-than-missionary position…
Before long, Stella not only learns to appreciate his kisses, but to crave all the other things he’s making her feel. Soon, their no-nonsense partnership starts making a strange kind of sense. And the pattern that emerges will convince Stella that love is the best kind of logic…

The Kiss Quotient doesn’t come out until June 5th, so we are making Boozy Book Club a week later on June 25th at 9/8c. We are also giving away a few copies because publishers we are the best.
Also, we may or may not be chatting with the author herself during the coming month.
AND. We are getting back to our roots: we are going to be doing a special Google Hangout that we will be posting on the 25th, too!
Phew, that is a lot of special for one month. All because we are that obsessed with this book.
*No-quite-officially, we will also be taking time to discuss any sequels to books that you have read in Boozy Book Club.
Smoke in the Sun will also be out June 5th. Many of you read China Rich Girlfriend and Rich People Problems. How can you not still be reading Ms. Marvel?
If you don’t remember what we’ve read in this group or are new to us (like Emily and myself), check out the Boozy Book Club archives or the Goodreads group (yes, we Emily does still update that!). Comment in the Facebook Event which books you want to discuss so that we can try to get to them all (not read them all, obvs.).
Feel like you are missing out?
You don’t have to be left out any longer! Join our Facebook group and chat about books all month long. If you do read our selected book, join us on (or around–it is Facebook after all) June 25th in your comfy clothes and with a glass of booze. You seriously don’t have to finish the book, it’s even more fun if you hate it!
See you in June!
