The Immortalists
This book came out January 9th of this year so it’s fresh off the presses! So far it has a 4 star average on Goodreads, and it’s #7 on the NYT Bestseller list for fiction, so fingers crossed we all enjoy it! Looks like there will be a little bit of mystery, a little bit of family drama, and a lot about the idea of fate. And if we’re going off the cover alone I’m sold. Buy it!
If you’re participating in our #TNReads Challenge, this book can fall into the book that was released in the last month topic. And if your name is Chloe it can also fall into the book by someone who has the same first name as you category. Congrats Chloes of Boozy Book Club!
The Cruel Prince
This book came out January 2nd, so it’s also pretty new. Right now, it has just about a 4.5 star average on Goodreads and it’s been on the NYT Bestseller list for YA for 2 weeks…so pretty much the entire time it’s been out. I think the quote on the cover says it all: “Lush, dangerous, a dark jewel of a book” – Leigh Bardugo. If my Grisha Queen likes it, then I’m so in. All of those words speak to me. Sounds like there will be court intrigue, scary beautiful faeries, and a world to get lost in. This is the first in a series which is great news for those of us who can’t let a story go…i.e. me! Buy it!
This book also falls into the book that was released in the last month category for the #TNReads Challenge. But if you’d rather use that for The Immortalists, this also falls under YA but not set in a dystopian future, or the first book in a YA fantasy series. Options!
Feel free to read both of these, one of these, but please don’t read none of these. We’ll be asking questions about both books, but if one of them just isn’t for you don’t force yourself to keep reading. There are too many books in this world to waste time on one you’re not feeling. It will always be there for you later. Make sure to check in with the Facebook group while you read. We’re always up for talking books with you!
New Year, New Format
We mentioned it briefly in our earlier posts, but the format for Boozy Book Club is changing just a bit. No more hangouts; instead we’ll be conducting business right in the Facebook group. Because we’re all about making your life easier, and also making it so we can all chat together about our books rather than you watching us chat about books while we get distracted by our own faces on our computer screens.
February’s Boozy Book Club will be held on February, 26th at 9 pm EST – mark your calendars. When that day rolls around, all you need to do is open up your Facebook app and there will be a live thread for our book discussion. We’ll be posting questions that look like this:
Then you can go ahead and answer, starting your entry with A1 so we know what question you’re answering. Q2 will be next, answers coded with A2, and so on and so forth. The good times will roll from there.
Feel free to still use the hashtag #TNBookClub on Facebook or Twitter. We’ll still track those mentions and if you say something funny we’ll give you a shoutout in our recaps. You can live in #TNBookClub infamy forever.
Boozy Book Club will be Monday, February 26th at 9PM EST
