TN’s Guide to Gifts That Don’t Suck: Coal and Canary Candle Company

It is a rare occurrence to come across a company that just gets you. When I stumbled upon Coal and Canary Candle Company on Instagram, it was almost a spiritual experience. Their Instastories are some of the most entertaining out there. You will often see the owners, Amanda and Tom, lip syncing to the greatest pop divas of all time while dancing around their warehouse full of glitter and boas. Seriously. I am not even joking. Go follow them on Instagram. You won’t regret it.

Coal and Canary was created by these two best friends while drinking wine. Those are my kind of people. Confession – I met Amanda at their store and had a total fangirl moment. I’m not even sorry.

“But there are already 100s of candle companies,” you might say, “why are they different?” Trust me when I say that Coal and Canary are the hippest candle company around. Their candles not only smell Ah-MAZinh(!) but they were even featured in the 2015 Oscar and Grammy gift bags! Just think, your house could smell like Beyonce’s!

With names like “Peach Pies and Cute French Guys”, “Wood Stoves and Fine Merlots” and “That Hot Barista”, Coal and Canary Candles are my spirit candle (is that a thing?)

If I could create a Coal and Canary candle it would be called “Anti-social and Drinking Solo” with notes of flannel jammies, mulled wine and dry shampoo. On second thought, I think I will leave the candle creation up to Amanda and Tom…
