It’s right around this time when that one friend/ relative/ co-worker/ acquaintance who always presents you with a beautifully thoughtful gift. And you realize that you didn’t get them anything… again.
There’s no time to order anything and the shelves in store are bare of anything that is remotely appealing at this late date.
Why not give them a gift that will bring them hours of entertainment? And you don’t even have to leave your house to get it.
AcornTv is an Anglophile’s best friend. I have discovered so many amazing series, movies and documentaries from the British Isles, Australia and elsewhere in the world.
Here are a few of my favourite AcornTv discoveries.
The Governor
After a maximum security prison is nearly destroyed by a riot, the first female governor is appointed to take charge. Idris Elba also stars in one of his first roles. Be prepared for some serious ball busting.
Black Widows
Within the first 5 minutes, three best friends blow up their abusive husbands. And then celebrate with copious amounts of champagne. Then the police get involved and the game of cat and mouse it on. It blends the Nordic noir genre with the splash and humour of Desperate Housewives. Perfect for binging on a Friday night with a glass of wine in hand.
Penelope Keith’s Hidden Villages
In this documentary, host Penelope Keith, visits a variety of British villages exploring what makes them so charming and unique in their own way. I now want to leave the big city life and become a villager. Best watched while sipping a cuppa tea.
At only $4.99/ month ($49.99/ year) this is an affordable gift no matter your budget.
