A Celebration of Boxing Day, A Holiday That I Completely Understand

Another Christmas has come and gone, but before we embark on a new year we need to celebrate Boxing Day today! I only learned the details about what Boxing Day actually is semi-recently, since it’s not something we have here in America. There’s no punching and fighting, which is what I always thought it entailed as a kid. In reality it seems to be a much more tame a bank holiday, and is apparently a big shopping day now. I still can’t nail down exactly where the name comes from (anyone who lives in a country that celebrates Boxing Day please chime in), but according to 90 seconds of Googleing the theory is that is came from the practice of giving “Christmas boxes” to servants on the 26th. A very nice gesture, sure, but I think we can do better. Our favorite thing about the Commonwealth here at TN is the men, of course. I propose that a new Boxing Day take over, one where our favorite guys who recognize this day bring you a box of your very own. I’ve created some advertising to help sell my idea on this, and I think people will come around. Warning: flawlessly Photoshopped images ahead.
